This role will support a portfolio of sensory projects to provide key insights that have an impact across our organization. You will have the unique opportunity to partner with an external trained panel as well as consumer testing vendors to generate actionable data and to develop recommendations to the team for improving product performance. This position will partner closely with internal teams (Product Development, Packaging, Quality, and Marketing) as well as external vendor partners (trained panels, consumer quantitative and qualitative). This role will provide a combination of traditional and novel sensory know-how to facilitate and influence various innovation and renovation projects. Additionally, you will work with cross-functional teams and strategic partners to build product and competitor insights and to develop and maintain product quality while providing sensory expertise to technical research programs to impact and fuel business growth. **Functions and duties of this role include, but not limited to:** Functions and duties of this role include, but not limited to: + Coordinate sensory testing and sample logistics to support product formulation at all stages of development (early R&D prototype selection to final launch) and support Quality Assurance product analysis/review as needed. + Prepare samples and run day to day aspects of sensory testing including informal panels, expert panels, production site tastings and consumer test planning. + Maintain a flavor lexicon for internal/external sensory benchmarking, facilitating updates and reference training as needed. + Provide input from sensory testing to work with Product/Packaging Development team and guide benchmarking, prototype selection, product/package creation and optimization. + Analyze test results from both internal and external tests to develop key insights to internal teams. Overlap internal and external data sets to produce novel insights and guide development direction. + Apply strong analytical (Design of Experiment, Landscaping, Penalty Analysis, statistics, etc.) knowledge and understanding to translate sensory data into key sensory attributes. + Support R&D team in product demonstrations to retailors and to leadership team. + Story tell effectively through data to help the team assess opportunities, risks, and recommendations to deliver positive impact to the business. + Flex support to Product Development and Packaging teams as needed for benchtop or lab support. **Qualifications:** The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: + Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills are required to succeed in this role. + 2+ years of experience leading Sensory tests, with a variety of sensory methodologies used in product/package development and consumer feedback (descriptive analysis, discrimination, qualitative, quantitative, etc) + Extensive familiarity with Sensory Science, with strong understanding and interpretation of organoleptic and packaging quantitative measures, with the ability to statistically analyze and report results for product/package development decision making. + Understanding of the science and chemistry of flavor and how to match that to perception. + Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Sensory Sciences or related field required. + Masters or Ph. Must be flexible to come into office 2-3 times a week. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. The expected salary range for this position is $86,100 - $129,100 annually and is bonus eligible. The exact salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal company equity, and budget.
