This position is located within our Discovery Research Units within the Oncology Discovery organization dedicated to the discovery and development of novel cancer therapeutics. We collaborate closely with functions in Therapeutic Modalities, Pharmaceutical Science as well as within the oncology therapeutic area to translate hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.
The OpportunityDesign and lead innovative research projects focused on target discovery and validation in cancer biology.
Apply cutting-edge functional genomic approaches, including CRISPR-based screening, to identify and characterize novel therapeutic targets.
Develop and optimize advanced 3D organoid models to investigate tumor biology and therapeutic responses.
Analyze large-scale genomic, proteomic, and transcriptomic datasets to uncover key disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic vulnerabilities.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including computational biologists, translational scientists, and clinical researchers, to drive data-driven discoveries.
Present research findings at internal meetings, scientific conferences, and contribute to high-impact peer-reviewed publications.
Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and advancements in cancer biology to integrate the latest innovations into research programs
Who you areYou have a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field and bring a strong background in at least one key disease area, such as colorectal cancer, lung cancer, or breast cancer. Further you have proven expertise in functional genomics, particularly CRISPR/Cas9-based screening techniques and hands-on experience with 3D organoid culture systems and their application in disease modelling. Ideally you also bring a couple of years of postdoctoral or industry experience in oncology drug discovery or translational cancer research/biology. Familiarity with in vivo cancer models and their translational applications would also be of advantage. Further you have:
Strong proficiency in analysing genomic, transcriptomic data using bioinformatics tools.
Advanced Flow Cytometry & Cell Sorting skill: Proficiency in multi-color flow cytometry, including spectral flow and FACS-based cell isolation
Experience in cell-based assays for target validation (e.g., live-cell imaging, proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion assays)
Demonstrated track record of impactful scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced research environment.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience managing projects, setting priorities, and aligning research goals with translational applications
Strong problem-solving mindset with a willingness to integrate emerging technologies into research workflows
