About the Role:
Performs assigned experiments to support scientific activities with histology studies, microscopic imaging, data acquisition and analysis. Directly involved in assay development for microscopic examination of novel drug targets and screening of potential therapeutic compounds, study design, execution of procedures and data analysis in a team setting._
Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Performs assigned experiments to support scientific activities and project goals involving processing, embedding, sectioning and staining of human and animal tissues (immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, etc.) and microscopic imaging of stained tissues
Responsible for histology assay development, optimization and validation
May design experiments
Facilitate acquisition of histology lab equipment and responsible for equipment maintenance
Oversees sample handling, storage and inventory
Recommends alternatives, researches new methods and techniques and may proactively seek out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems
Completes data analysis and reporting. Maintains and updates SOP’s and writes data summaries for experiments conducted
Provides training and/or supervision to junior staff, as needed
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
BS/BA degree in biological sciences preferably related to molecular neurobiology or cell biology and 2+ years of experience in in a laboratory setting OR
MS/MA degree in biological sciences preferably related to molecular neurobiology or cell biology and some relevant experience preferred OR
PhD degree in biological sciences preferably related to molecular neurobiology or cell biology and some relevant experience preferred
Additional microscopy experience strongly preferred
Working knowledge of brain anatomy and cell biology strongly preferred
Strong skills with histology (immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization) and imaging (fluorescence and light microscopy, confocal, etc.) required
Hands-on experience with tissue processing, embedding and sectioning strongly preferred
Occasional weekend work required
Recognizes fundamental anomalies in data points and identifies issues in experiments/processes
Begins to understand how to think outside of the technical process and consider the impact decisions will have on the broader scientific goals
Strong knowledge of one scientific discipline
Good knowledge of scientific principles, methods and techniques
Good knowledge and demonstrated ability working with a variety of laboratory equipment/tools
Strong computer skills
Good communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Good project management skills
High level of organization and attention to detail
Willingness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
Advanced multitasking, trouble shooting and deductive reasoning skills required

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $88,000.00-$127,550.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
