The Scientist - Systems Engineering, Radar position will be responsible for supporting technical execution of the Radar portfolio, located in Van Nuys, CA. The Scientist position will report to the Radar and Recon, Systems Engineering Sr Manager.
The Scientist - Systems Engineering, Radar responsibilities will include providing technical direction to all the programs in the Radar portfolio, leading the architecture implementation of current pursuits, supporting customer briefings on the current programs and additionally on new technology and where it can by applied. The position involves close collaboration with other L3H programs to ensure commonality in system designs and opportunity for growth where possible. The position will also provide coaching and development for the engineering staff.
Essential Functions:
+ Provide subject matter expert technical leadership, maintain customer communications, and be a technical authority representative for the Radar organization
+ Understand customer mission, customer sets, drive technical strategy within the Systems Engineering Organization
+ Effectively interface with program management and customers
+ Lead / Supports new pursuits for the organization to include all phases of campaigns and proposal processes, serve as a technical leader for new pursuits.
+ Support/develop Technical Roadmaps within the organization
+ Drives to ensure adoption of common architecture frameworks and prevent unique product implementation at proposal phase/concept design within the portfolio
+ Identifies opportunities for engineering improvements (e3) for people, process, and tools within the organization
+ Utilize strong set of core competencies including Problem Solving, Team Leadership, Strategic Thinking / Planning, Communication, IPT / Cross Functional Behavior, Accountability, Critical Thinking, and the highest level of Ethical Conduct.
+ Coach, mentor and build relationships with external organizations
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
+ Experience in radar systems.
+ Experience in a technical engineering leadership role.
+ Active secret security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
+ Experience as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead
+ Experience or knowledge in the L3Harris and DoD Engineering processes
+ Experience interfacing with Radar customers, understanding needs and managing expectations
+ Experience on large scale Hardware / Software Engineering development efforts
+ Experience on large scale Hardware Environmental Qualification testing efforts
+ Ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner, including executive presentations, Program updates with internal & external stakeholders, etc
+ Experience with Radar System performance requirements, system design requirements, interface documents, test plans and test procedures
+ Experience with larger electronic systems, especially those that include antennas, receivers, transmitters, and digital signal processing
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineer, or related Engineering discipline
+ Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering
+ Ability to convey technical information and ideas in a clear and concise manner, including executive communication and technical presentations
+ Experience leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team (spanning systems, software, firmware, hardware, mechanical, etc.)
+ Familiarity with one or more of the following key skill areas: Signal Processing, Tracking, Sensor Fusion, Receivers (Digital and Analog), Synchronizer / Timing, logic design, computer architecture, Systems Engineering Processes, LabView, Software (Interface, Visualization)
+ Experience with RF systems including ESM, radar, or communication systems is desired
+ Experience with total system product development to include reliability, maintainability, availability, fault tolerant design, EMI / EMC, and environmental requirements
+ Familiarity with IBM Rational DOORs or other requirements traceability tools
+ Understanding of applicable programming and scripting languages for analysis and test (such as MATLAB, Python, Excel/VBA, C/C++, Java)
+ Familiarity with the future mission of the customer(s) with respect to Air Traffic Management and Defense Surveillance Radar
+ Experience in the Digital Engineering, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), and System Simulation
+ Thorough understanding of Cyber Security best practices
+ Competency making decisions with imperfect and incomplete information
+ Demonstrated ability to deliver and sustain measurable results
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $150,000-$278,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
