What You Will Achieve  

At Pfizer oncology we deliver breakthroughs that change patients’ lives with the mission to outdo cancer. The ADC (Antibody-Drug-Conjugate) chemistry team plays a vital role in this mission through discovering and advancing novel ADC linker/payload technologies for targeted cancer therapies. We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative researcher to join our ADC chemistry team in a lab-based role in Bothell Washington to support novel ADC technology development. The successful candidate will participate in research projects involving the design and synthesis of novel ADC payloads and linkers. Activities may also include coordinating or performing biological assays to understand drug linker and ADC properties.    

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES  

Design and perform multi-step syntheses of novel ADC payloads, drug linkers, and key intermediates. 

Work independently to develop, troubleshoot and optimize synthetic routes, including modular routes for rapid analog generation and efficient scalable routes for early-stage drug candidates. 

Operate a variety of analytical instruments and technologies including HPLC, LC/MS, NMR to enable structural determination and purity assessment. 

Work effectively in both independent and highly collaborative settings. 

Analyze and accurately record data using Electronic Laboratory Notebooks. 

Actively participate in discussions and present results in the form of written reports and oral presentations. 

Adhere to all company safety, scientific record keeping, and compliance requirements. 

QUALIFICATIONS  

Master’s degree with 4+ years or bachelor’s degree with 6+ years industrial experience as a synthetic organic chemist 

Deep understanding of organic functional groups, reaction mechanisms and reactivity. 

Ability to use chemistry and literature/patent searching software to plan and execute synthetic strategies. 

Proven record as a synthetic organic chemist familiar with a wide range of reaction types and having demonstrated multi-step synthesis, purification, and characterization of organic compounds, especially using NMR and mass spectroscopy. 

Strong interpersonal skills and effective written/verbal communication. 

Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, learn new skills and proactively solve problems.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,900.00 to $124,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
