We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Scientist Downstream Processing to strengthen the Monoclonal Antibody (MCA)/Biomaterials-team in Boxmeer.

The Analytical Technology Solutions-Biologicals (ATS-Bio) group is a support team of highly qualified professionals ensuring that product testing is accurate and reliable for all our animal vaccine products. High reliability is achieved by continuous improvement of existing analytical tests, replacement of animal tests by in vitro alternatives, production of critical assay reagents, and implementation of new technologies. Outstanding Quality Control tests are required to support the growth strategy of our company.
About the role
As a Scientist Downstream Processing you will be mainly responsible for the downstream processing (DSP) of monoclonal antibodies and other Biomaterials, including optimization of the processes involved. You will be a contact person for all Animal Health sites worldwide regarding MCA/Biomaterials purification- and labelling-related projects.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Research and Development (R&D) and Manufacturing and Marketing Development customers globally, specializing in downstream processing (DSP) of monoclonal antibodies and biomaterials.Utilize in-depth technical knowledge of the Akta purification system to conduct experiments, including purification and conjugation of monoclonal antibodies and biomaterials as requested.Collaborate with scientists across departments and external partners to address challenges, mitigate risks, and ensure the delivery of high-quality monoclonal antibodies and biomaterials.Actively engage as co-lead and SME in cross-functional project teams to provide expertise, analysis, and advice, supporting colleagues in R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, and Operations.Prepare and present data, discuss issues and successes with customers in cross-functional project meetings, and communicate timelines effectively to manage expectations.Administer inventory management of monoclonal antibodies and biomaterials, ensuring adequate stock levels and initiating production processes as needed.Write, adapt, and support the development of regional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and animal protocols for the generation of new monoclonal antibodies and biomaterials.Train and supervise new employees and interns, while also fulfilling general organizational tasks related to GLP/GMP compliance, laboratory coordination, and EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) practicesYour profile
Bachelor's degree in Applied Science (BSc) with a specialization in Biochemistry, Biology, or Molecular Biology, demonstrating a solid foundation in biological sciences.Proven experience in the research, manufacturing, and testing of (sterile) biological products, showcasing a thorough understanding of product lifecycle from development to quality assurance.Hands-on experience with downstream processing techniques, specifically utilizing Akta systems for effective purification and processing of biological materials.Strong understanding of antigen purification processes and relevant biological area concepts, enabling informed decision-making in experimental design and execution.Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles, ensuring compliance with industry standards for the development and testing of biological products.Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment while effectively managing multiple projects concurrently.What we offer
