Scientist I, Cell Biology Position Summary

Discover impactful work in the scientist I role on our process development team. You will be exposed to an outstanding variety of cell types and bioreactor operating experiences. Working with a team, you will modify and implement study plans, assemble data, and assess workflows with a focus on teamwork and continuous process improvement.

A day in the life:

Cell culture pre-work: collaborate on study plan and DOE generation, formulating medium and feeds, cell banking, passaging, and sample analysisBioreactor setup and cleanup: building line sets, autoclave operation, sensor management, loading control profiles, cleaning and coordinating parts and laboratory spaceBioreactor operation and management: operating controllers, troubleshooting behavior, and processing samplesBeing part of a team: strong communication with collaborating teamsCrafting meaningful results: log information and actions, help generate reports, provide insight on collected dataFinding a better way: research and drive innovation to continuously improve workflows and capabilities

EducationBachelor's degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent required.

Experience and AbilitiesRequiredFunctional proficiency with mammalian cell culture – 3 months experienceSuccessfully implement aseptic techniqueComfortable with basic data, statistical analysis, and plot generation; applying tools such as Excel, JMP, or PrismAbility to communicate – summarize critical observations in a timely mannerPreferredFamiliarity with cell culture instrumentation – cell count, basic metabolites, pH, gassing, and protein titerExperience with high-throughput and automationKnowledge of bioreactors or control systemsProven understanding of design of experiment (DOE)

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $53,300.00–$79,925.00.
