HD Biosciences, Inc. (San Diego), a WuXi AppTec Company, is expanding its in vivo Pharmacology team. We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist I to lead/support our in vivo pharmacology team for various projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Lead a team of scientists within the in vivo pharmacology DepartmentDevelop animal models for the evaluation of various disease modelsResponsible for the evaluation of various drug treatments in rodents PK/PD and efficacy studiesSchedule studies, review protocols, data and reportsEstablishes scientific standards and new initiativesWrite and review SOPsProvides scientific leadership by proactively advising, sharing knowledge and expert opinions across functionsAnticipates scientific barriers and proactively develops strategies to ensure successful drug evaluationApplies his/her experience and expertise in preclinical development of disease to guide study design.Perform and be in charge of complex in vivo pharmacology experiments utilizing tumor models (syngeneic, xenograft tumor models, and humanized mouse models) in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised mice; and other immunology-related fields, in responsible for project execution, data update/presentation, and study report preparationLead troubleshooting and issue solving efforts to ensure successful delivery of client’s projectsDevelop, implement, optimize, and validate animal models in different disease areasEffectively communicate with internal colleagues and external clients to promote a world-class service Qualifications

Experience / Education

PhD with 0-2 years of post-doctoral training or working experience in the area of immuno-oncology or pharmaceutical-related servicesStrong knowledge in tumor immunology, cellular immunology, autoimmunity, and related fieldInteractive and collaborative approach; expert influence and conflict resolution skills are preferredExperience with in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies, e.g. sterile cell culture techniques, and rodent handling experience (animal dosing (IV, PO, IP, SC), tumor implantation, blood/tissue collection, etc.) in academic or industry laboratory environmentWork experience in CRO or in a commercial setting is preferredExcellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilityMust be detail-oriented, have strategic planning skills and capability to multi-task, ensuring that all tactical details are managed efficiently and effectivelyDemonstrated ability to guide groups through corporate change and growthOutstanding written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills to seamlessly fit within a teamwork and driven environment

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Proficient in Oral & Written communication skillsNeed to be able to read, write and understand English (Mandarin)Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)Team Management skill

 

Physical Requirements:               

Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / ChemicalsMust be able to wear appropriate PPEMust be able to work in an environment with variable noise levelsAbility to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of timeAbility to Lift 10 lbs. routinely.Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reachAbility to push/pull 10 lbs routinely/ often / occasionallyClarity of VisionAbility to identify and distinguish colorsMust be able to perform activities with repetitive motionsAbility to climb Ladders / Stairs / ScaffoldingAbility to work in variable temperatures high to freezingInside/outside working conditions

Anticipated base pay range: $67,023 to $86,961
