Position Summary:

 

The Ops Scientist I works cross-functionally on a variety of assignments for improving on-market product reliability, with a focus on biosensor and/or reagents processes. Required to perform entry level professional laboratory work requiring application of general and specialized methods, techniques, and instruments. The ideal candidate would have a degree in biomedical engineering, industrial engineering, chemistry, biophysics or materials science. Must be able to work in a highly regulated field (dedicated to detailed documentation, regulatory compliance and quality). Required to work with blood and preferably is proficient in statistical methods.

Essential Functions:

Performs a variety of laboratory procedures and experiments. Periodically communicates results, problems, and progress to supervisorSchedules own activities in accordance with assignments and priorities; Detects pro­ blems in routine procedures caused by instrument difficulties, or in reagent preparation and/or handlingUnderstands correct operating procedures and techniques for required laboratory instru­ mentsObtains data and reduces by necessary calculations; collates results and prepares re­ ports as required; maintains accurate, precise, and legible laboratory notebooks.May perform, as professional judgment and experience are developed, an expanded range of laboratory experiments, tests, and procedures. Selects standard methods and utilizes those methods in specific tasks and analysis of results. Assignments may be spe­ cific, and with limited objectives that involve a number of tasks.Understands experimental design; Familiar with theory and practice sufficient to detect deviations in results and/or potential problems.Selects appropriate experimental and analytical methods, define protocols, and schedule tasks.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Networking/Key Relationships:

Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and other professionals in the section or group.Emerging ability to share and present findings and data at internal meetings. Qualifications

Education:

Knowledge acquired through a Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

Bachelor's minimum 1 year of relevant experience
