Scientist II, Clinical (CLS)
**Work Schedule** Standard (Mon-Fri) **Environmental Conditions** Laboratory Setting **Job Description** **Responsibilities:** + Perform routine and assigned laboratory analyses, including sample receiving, processing, and result reporting. + Ensure instruments and equipment in the clinical lab are functioning accurately and maintain them by performing or arranging scheduled maintenance in a timely manner. + Participate in proficiency testing. + Train other clinical laboratory personnel. + Use good documentation practices (GDPs) and follow laboratory quality control and quality assurance policies. + Follow Life Technologies Clinical Services Lab safety policies and procedures. + Ensure inventory of clinical laboratory supplies and materials are available to complete required job functions. + Assist other duties as assigned. **Qualifications and Experience:** + A BS degree or equivalent experience in Medical Technology or Biological Sciences from an accredited college or university. + A current California state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (Generalist or CGMBS) required to perform laboratory testing. + Minimum of 2 years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably in a high complexity laboratory performing molecular or NGS testing **Skills:** + Competence in using systems for data entry, retrieval, and analyses, including word processing programs, spreadsheets containing data analyses, and perform high complex instrumentation. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to problem-solve analyses. + Understanding of good laboratory practices and regulatory compliance. **Working Conditions:** + Handle highly infectious agents and hazardous chemicals. + Sit or stand for extended periods while using equipment and handling specimens and/or for computer work. + Bend or twist to access lower cabinets and drawers, and squat or kneel to remove or store supplies on lower shelves. + Stretch and perform overhead arm movements to reach and retrieve supplies from high cabinets and shelves. + Lift up to 40 lbs. + Distinguish colors for analysis and hear equipment timers and alarms. + Perform fine hand manipulation for equipment and pipette operation. + Work is mainly laboratory-based with some time spent in an office environment. **Compensation and Benefits** The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $80,000.00–$113,000.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
