Scientist II (Fragrance Analysis)

Job Summary

IFF is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our Scent Technology & Innovation team. The position will provide an opportunity to be a part new fragrance creations, concepts, and solutions to our Body Care Business.

Key focus will be on Fragrance Analysis and Fragrance Performance analytical support which will be used in IFF Global and Regional projects, including leveraging new Fragrance technologies, and technical understanding, which clearly meet defined needs of consumers and/or customers. The outcome of this work will be new products and product/ingredient insights that provide IFF with opportunities for profitable growth.

Role Scope

Carry out fragrance extractions of consumer market samples using a variety of techniquesPerform GC/MS analysis on fragrance extractions and raw materials Reconstruct fragrances by creating a formula based upon those interpretations using natural essential oils, aroma chemicals, synthetic materials, and specialty basesDevelop analytical methods and translate complex requests into sensible experiments and/or technical approachesPresent results, interpretations, and next steps to internal customersPlan and execute complex analytical technical work under the direction of technical leadersDrive IP Strategy for focused initiatives to maximize IFF competitive positionProvide technical leaders with clear updates on various initiatives.Liaise with various internal cross functional and cross-divisional colleagues and external collaborators.Foster a collaborative mindset and build a relationship of trust with other fragrance functions (Scent Design Managers, Perfumers, Marketing, Consumer Insights) to enrich and accelerate the creative process.Demonstrate good written and communication skills.

Required Experience/Skills:

B.S. in chemistry or related field.  M.S. is preferred.  At minimum 7 years industry lab experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, consumer goods, flavor or fragrance industryKnowledgeable in lab safety, relevant application, raw materials, & chemical processesProven track record of designing experiments and problem-solvingCan work independently on projects without direct manager supervisionOlfactive and analytical knowledge of composition and main components of natural essentials oils, aroma chemicals, synthetics and specialty basesAbility of operate and troubleshoot GC/MS instrumentsProven record of clear report writing and written methodologiesOlfactive discrimination skillsProject Management skills

Compensation ($100,000 - $107,000) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

Salary Ranges:

$107,000.00 - $160,400.00
