Scientist- Ophthalmology (In-Vitro)

We are seeking an independent and highly motivated Scientist to join our Ophthalmology group to support the development of therapeutics for ocular and autoimmune diseases. You will be joining a growing team working in ocular diseases and will get the opportunity to engage in innovative research as part of our discovery efforts to contribute to human health.

As a Scientist in the Ophthalmology group, your typical day might include:

Designing, planning, and/or performing in vitro and in vivo studies using cell lines and mouse models to investigate, validate, and screen therapeutic targets

Isolating cells from mouse and human tissues for further functional and phenotypic characterization

Running ELISA/MSD/Luminex, RT-PCR, flow cytometry using mouse/human serum/tissue

Designing and/or executing in vitro cell-based functional assays using primary or engineered cells

Working with mice by dosing with antibodies through various routes, interim bleed, tissue collection and processing after collection for further analysis

Developing new methods or technologies and troubleshoot experiments

Close collaborative interactions with teams across the organization

Analyzing data and communicate findings to peers and management at various group and cross-functional meetings

Writing protocols and study reports as well as producing and maintaining accurate electronic records

In order to be considered for this role, you must have a BS/MS degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, or related fields with at least 6+ years of relevant experience working in a laboratory setting. We need someone with strong knowledge of molecular and cellular biology; preferred but not required expertise in immunology or ophthalmology fields. Experience in techniques including tissue culture (maintenance of transformed and primary cells), in-vitro and ex-vivo cell-based assays, and in-vitro modification of cell lines and primary mouse and human cells are required. Multicolor flow cytometry is strongly preferred. Experience with mouse models of inflammatory/autoimmune diseases, including handling and blood/tissue collection is a plus but not required. A strong emphasis on creativity and problem solving will be required.
