We bring together the best minds and pursue the most promising science.The Scientist in Drug Product Development & Delivery (DPD&D) Process Development team will work in conjunction with development teams to support program/project needs. The candidate will independently lead under supervision, design and perform development and engineering activities in support of fill-finish activities for Biologics (e.g. monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, bi-specifics, other therapies, etc). **Key Responsibilities:** + Act as program/project PD Lead and Support the design of laboratory experiments in collaboration with project teams. + Uses underlying physical, chemical, and biological principles to identify the mechanisms and kinetics governing process and product performance and scale up and achieve target process performance at all scales. + Develops fundamental understanding of large molecule parenteral process unit operations on physical/chemical/biological product quality attributes, specifically freeze/thaw, mixing, filtration, filling process steps and PAT based experiments. + Develops and uses lab based “scale-down” models to evaluate process parameters and ranges and builds knowledge of “scale up” of unit operations to confirm or modify understanding of critical and key parameters. + Evaluates the suitability of manufacturing processes to existing product, process, and materials platforms and vice versa. + Works with other development teams and commercial and clinical supply chain to conduct in depth reviews of process performance data to establish/refine and drive process improvements. + Opportunity to develop process engineering skills including the use of multi-physics software for process modeling and the statistical analysis of data. + **Profile:** For this position we are looking for an experienced, flexible and team oriented person with excellent communication and negotiation skills as well as the following hard skills: + Master’s degree (MS) with 6 years of experience OR a Bachelor Degree (BS/BA) with at least 9 years of experience, performing progressively advanced duties at the associate scientist level, OR the equivalent training/ experience. + Demonstrated competency and experience in process engineering within the pharmaceutical industry is required. + Knowledge and experience of biopharmaceutical process design is preferred. + Knowledge and experience of operating systems/software (e.g. SCADA, SAP and/or SAPMII, MES) is strongly preferred. + Knowledge and experience with PAT (e.g. SoloVPE, FlowVPE, Raman, flow- sensors) is strongly preferred. + Competency at trouble-shooting process issues based on process scale-down/scale-up knowledge is preferred. + Excellent oral and written language skills in German and/or English. + Effective communication skills and demonstrated leadership in providing integration of activities and delivering information across multifunctional groups and sites is helpful. + This position will be based in Schaffhausen (CH). + Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
