The Scientist - Snacks, Bakery, and Confectionary Applications will drive innovation through leading research and development projects, collaborating with geography and customer teams, and connecting customer and consumer needs to break-through technology.
Core Responsibilities:
Work with Marketing, Technical Service, Global Key Accounts, and other cross-functional teams to drive new business opportunities and customer projects. In addition, providing applications expertise for these teams.Translate voice of customer and key customer value propositions from geography category teams to technical solutions that make our customer’s breakthroughs possible.Manage and support global projects by planning, designing and conducting experiments/trials in the laboratory and pilot plant and conducting data analysis to develop clear conclusions and recommendations that support business decisions.Applying analytical methods to characterize the attributes of snacks, bakery, and confectionery products and coordinate more extensive testing with Sensory, Analytical, and Texture teams when required.Complete technical project reports and presentations and providing project status updates, plans, milestones and outcomes to team and stakeholders as required. Develop new formulation concepts leveraging ingredients and processes which can be applied globally. Leverage industrial expertise to develop and commercialize new ingredients and technologies grounded on customer insights.Support Ingredion’s IP strategy by staying abreast of technology environment (established and emerging technologies, market trends, IP landscape). Conduct prior art searches (e.g., literature, patents), proactively seek and pursue IP opportunities to protect Ingredion’s stake in new and promising ingredients and applications.Staying engaged with the industry information, and developing industry relationships and networks within organizations like IFT, Cereals & Grains, ASB, AIB, IBIE.Presenting work, capabilities and knowledge at key international conferences, training events, and customer meetingsQualified candidates will have:
MS/PhD in Food Science, Bakery Science, Food Process Engineering, or closely related field with strong progressive experience in food formulation/ product development and a passion for food science. Demonstrated hands-on product development experience and knowledge in Snacks and / or Bakery category application segments.Knowledge of starches, hydrocolloids and other texturizers, specialty sweeteners and plant-based protein ingredients in food applications.Experience with experimental design, statistical data analysis, and interpretation of results.Experience in literature search and familiarity with peer-reviewed scientific journals desired.Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills e.g. delivering presentations and writing technical reports.Excellent project management and organizational skillsDemonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills and experience, technical thinking and problem-solving skillsFlexible and adaptable, comfortable leading multiple projects concurrently.Curiosity and creativity with a customer-focused mind-set, ability to proactively inspire change.Analytical and critical thinker with excellent business acumen and strong problem-solving skills.Ability to travel up to 20%#LI-MU1

$98,800.00-$131,733.33 AnnualThis pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).
Incentive Compensation:
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
