Screw Machinist - Setup Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Screw Machine Technician is responsible for set up, operation and rebuild activities on Acme Gridley equipment with the possibility to assist/cross train on Davenport or rotary transfer machines. In this role you will work with the Production Supervisor and our team of skilled engineers to efficiently set up and produce quality product while identifying areas for improvement in the process.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Makes safety the number one priority by leading by example, addressing unsafe conditions & behaviors, and supporting safety improvement initiatives

Effectively utilize blueprints and layouts to set up / change over screw machines

Operates multiple production machines as required by production standards

Verifys product quality using precision measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauges etc.

Monitor tool life and replace worn tooling and attachments

Record production output on hour-by-hour sheets and communicate causes of gaps to target.

Perform mechanical maintenance and assist maintenance team with larger preventative projects

Replace gear, cams, attachments and clutches when required

Coach and train junior operators

Keep the work area clean and organized following 5S discipline

Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of Set up experience on Acme Gridley screw machines in production/industrial environment

Strong GD&T knowledge

Strong knowledge of machining feed and speeds relating to a variety of metals

Strong measurements skills, use of gauging equipment  

Basic computer literacy skills. Comfortable navigating in Windows and Microsoft office

Mechanical background

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical College program or courses

Previous experience with Buffoli rotary transfer, Davenport, or Tsugami CNC equipment

Proficiencies:

Dependable, Team Oriented, Positive Attitude

Must be adaptable to a changing work environment.

Strong attention to detail and follow through.

Physical Requirements:

Close vision requirements to inspect parts

Must be able to move in a variety of ways
