Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant in a scribe capacity to join our Manchester Care Center team!

Up to $5,000 sign on bonus available!*

This is a Full Time, benefits eligible position.

Position Summary:

The position of Scribe (MA), functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The scribe partners closely with the assigned provider to support the provider in their clerical functions. The scribe will support the provider in documentation, order entry, and efficiency management. The scribe will be present with the provider during patient visits and perform documentation and order entry on the provider’s behalf. The scribe works with the Practice Leadership in accordance with CMH department policies and procedures and operates within the American Association of Medical Assistants guidelines. The Scribe communicates with the appropriate person (Provider, Clinical Coordinator, Team Leader, and/or Practice Manager) about changes in patient's status and results of diagnostic studies.

Essential Functions:

Accurately and efficiently document patient visits in real-time while the provider conducts patient assessments and examinations.Accurately documents history, physical exam, assessment and plan, and enters orders for procedures, consults, and other additional follow-up orders.Conducts pre-visit planning to prepare notes ahead of clinics visits, accurately locating and documenting past medical histories, results, and other relevant information for the upcoming visit.Checks on the status of labs, imaging studies, and other pertinent information in real-time, as needed during the patient visit.Partners closely with the assigned provider to ask follow-up questions or obtain clarification to ensure documentation is accurate, complete and meets regulatory requirements.Other duties as assigned by practice leadership.

Education and experience:

Graduate from a Medical Assistant program required.Current Association Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.High school or GED graduation required.One year of work experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting preferred.Must have one (1) the following credentials OR be eligible to obtain 1 (one) of the following credentials, based upon the credentialing organization's eligibility requirements, within 90 days of hire:Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical AssistantsRegistered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical TechnologistsCertified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Health Career AssociationRegistered Medical Assistant (RMA) – The American Registry of Medical Assistants

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Heavy lifting and the ability to transport stretcher and wheelchair patients may be required.Working knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed.Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.Medical terminologyExcellent organizational and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to perform multiple tasks or activities simultaneously, provide quality patient service, prioritize and use critical thinkingEffectively communicate with patients in a supportive and tactful manner
