Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and technical Scrum Master to lead Agile software development efforts, particularly in delivering Department of Defense (DoD)-related software solutions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in MERN stack technologies, combined with a proven ability to decompose and size user stories in Jira, coordinate cross-functional development teams, and manage stakeholder communication. Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is highly desired. In this role, you will ensure efficient Agile processes, oversee technical delivery, and act as a bridge between the client and product teams. Your work will align priorities, optimize team velocity, and deliver high-quality, secure software solutions on schedule.
ResponsibilitiesDecompose complex user stories into manageable tasks, size tickets accurately, and maintain a prioritized backlog aligned with business goals and technical feasibility using Jira.Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.Coordinate development efforts across diverse technical teams, ensuring alignment and transparency.Proactively identify and resolve impediments that may be hindering the team's progress and delivery.Work closely with developers, particularly those specializing in the MERN stack, to ensure technical challenges are identified and addressed early in the development lifecycle.Remove obstacles to facilitate effective communication and increase team Scrum maturity.Essential SkillsExpertise in using Jira for backlog management, user story decomposition, and sprint tracking.Experience in software development, with experience as an individual contributor.Experience tailoring Agile processes to meet client and stakeholder needs.Familiarity with secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.Domain expertise in DoD acquisition processes, ITAR compliance, and secure data handling.Experience implementing Agile practices across multiple teams or programs.Additional Skills & QualificationsUnderstanding of software development concepts and familiarity with programming or database querying.GIS and Mapping Technologies: Proficiency in integrating GIS solutions within web and software applications.Work Environment
