The Systems Design & Architecture organization is seeking a Chief Engineer over multiple development efforts for the Tomahawk program.  The CE will be the technical executive tasked with overseeing a variety of obsolescence redesign efforts to support capability updates and continued production. 

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the technical rigor and coordination across functions within the program and with outside suppliers.  The ideal candidate will have experience leading large, complex teams and communicating with Raytheon and customer leadership. The candidate will have significant development and production experience to include working with internal and external suppliers and factories. The candidate will also need prior multidiscipline engineering knowledge and experience, and development lifecycle experience.  The Chief Engineer will be expected to mentor lead engineers both technically and with their career. 

What You Will Do:

Chairing Engineering Review, Configuration Control and Failure Review Boards for development and production efforts

Communicate across functions and with the technical leads, LSE, and Test Architect

Responsible for coordinating customer technical interchange meeting and content

Provide influence and decision making to achieve a balanced technical solution which satisfies the customer needs and provides positive financial impact to the business

Establish and reinforce the program’s technical organizational structure, risk posture, strategy, and execution plans.

Cross business and function leadership and coordination

Supplier technical oversight and technical engagement and collaboration

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 12 (twelve) years of prior relevant experience.

Experience leading and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams.

Certification of Level 4 Chief Engineer (within Raytheon) or equivalent is required.

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Current DoD TS/SSBI clearance

MS or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics

Experience with model-based systems engineering and associated tools

Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance

Familiarity with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures

Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure

Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle

Familiarity with system safety, reliability, and configuration management

Experience evaluating and mitigating technical risks

Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations

Strong communication skills

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
