Job Summary:

About the Role & Team

As a Husbandry Associate, you will be learning the technical aspects of professional aquatic animal keepers, acquiring the basic husbandry skills to perform routine tasks at the Seas with Nemo & Friends and The Land under the direction of Animal Care management and guidance of Senior Aquarists.

If selected for this hourly, casual temporary position, you will be reporting to the Zoological Managers of the assigned area and team.

This is a Casual Temporary or Seasonal role with no guarantee of weekly working hours, as hours will fluctuate based on business needs.

What You Will DoLearn and demonstrate proficiency in basic husbandry skills including but not limited to feeding/watering, medicating, shifting, containment, documentation, and observationCommit to creating positive and informative guest interaction opportunities, effectively interpreting your role to our guestsWork under close supervision with clearly defined proceduresLearn and perform the basic runs and routines of an area/team focused primarily on a narrow scope of species or routinesExhibit positive leadership behaviors with peers and leaders

Required Qualifications & SkillsMinimum one year paid work experience within an AZA FacilitySCUBA certified, and comfortable carrying, assembling and wearing SCUBA tanks and gear dailyAbility to move 50 pounds

Preferred QualificationsPrevious AZA accredited Aquarium experienceScuba Rescue CertifiedCPR and First Aid certified

EducationBachelor's Degree or equivalent in Marine Biology, Biological Sciences, Zoology preferred
