GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Join our team this summer at Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park (EKW). Situated alongside the North Platte River, this 362-acre park features a range of nature viewing opportunities and outdoor activities including a 3-mile paved hiking trail. As a team member, you'll be working in the midst of this beautiful natural setting, keeping the park safe and well-maintained while providing visitors with exceptional experiences through educational, cultural, and recreational activities. Whether you're seeking to launch a career in outdoor recreation or simply looking for summer employment, EKW State Park is the perfect place to be.
Seasonal employment is typically from mid-May to mid-September. Some seasonal positions may begin earlier in the year and/or extend longer into the fall. The actual length of employment depends on the work location and the type of job performed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
Seasonal Visitor Services Associate – Fee Collector:
+ Greet visitors, collect admission fees, and provide excellent customer service.
+ Answer visitor questions, and provide pertinent information about the site, including interpretation and orientation of facilities and local points of interest.
+ Handle monetary transactions, which include fee collection.
+ Responsible for cash register reconciliation.
+ Answer a multi-line telephone system transferring calls to appropriate personnel.
+ Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry.
+ Perform opening and closing duties, as well as cleaning and maintenance as needed.
+ Provide janitorial services in the building and will assist the Fee Supervisor with special projects and events.
+ Assist all North Platte District sites with special projects and events.
+ Assist with the development and delivery of educational and recreational programs.
Seasonal Maintenance Worker:
+ Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance, minor carpentry repairs, painting, and mowing.
+ Assist staff in the construction, installation, maintenance, renovation of grounds and buildings, and preventive maintenance.
+ Clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings, and remove litter from grounds, parking lots, and other public areas.
+ Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles, including light, and heavy equipment.
+ Operate various maintenance equipment, such as mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment required in daily operations.
+ Utilize various hand and power tools.
+ Follow proper handling and safety procedures involving cleaning chemicals and fuel products encountered in daily operations, including proper Personal Protective Equipment usage.
+ Provide excellent customer service. May interact with the visiting public answering basic questions.
+ Assist all North Platte District sites with special projects and events.
+ Assist with the development and delivery of educational and recreational programs.
Seasonal Visitor Services Associate- Interpretation:
+ Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service.
+ Answer visitor questions and provide pertinent information about the site, including interpretation and orientation of facilities and local points of interest.
+ Perform programs, guided hikes, hands-on activities, and other personal interpretations.
+ Assist with special projects and events.
+ Assist in the creation of social media, outreach, and other non-personal content.
+ Administer, restock, and track program inventory.
+ Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry.
+ Perform opening and closing duties, as well as janitorial services and maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
For all seasonal positions, preference will be given to applicants who are professional while providing excellent customer service.
**Must have a valid driver's license.
**Must be at least 16 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks.
+ Good interpersonal skills, allowing the ability to interact with visitors from around the world.
+ Willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day.
+ Experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales.
+ Must possess excellent customer service skills.
+ Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work.
+ Basic construction and maintenance knowledge.
+ Basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, as well as hand and power tools.
+ Basic safety awareness of equipment use.

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Must work outdoors in all weather conditions.
+ Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds with or without assistance.
