GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

If so, join Wyoming State Parks for a summer of adventure and teamwork in beautiful Guernsey State Park. Guernsey State Park is located just miles from Guernsey, WY. It is home to one of the most diverse State Parks in Wyoming with everything from boating, hiking, and mountain biking on the recreational side, to both the Oregon Trail and Civilian Conservation Corps on the Historical side. All these activities are found within Guernsey State Park’s boundary and its 3 satellite sites. The park is currently seeking enthusiastic staff to fill positions in maintenance, in visitor services in our fee booths, and in the museum. Housing may be provided.

The employment season is typically from mid-May to mid-September. Some seasonal positions may begin earlier in the year and/or extend longer into the fall. The actual length of employment depends on the work location and the type of job performed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
Seasonal Visitor Services Associate – Fee Collector, Fee Supervisor:
+ Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service.
+ Answer visitor questions and provide pertinent information about the site, including interpretation and orientation of facilities and local points of interest.
+ Collect admission fees and monetary transactions, which include fee collection and gift shop sales; responsible for cash register reconciliation.
+ Responsible for restocking gift shop shelves and tracking inventory.
+ Answer a multi-line telephone system transferring calls to appropriate personnel.
+ Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry.
+ Perform opening and closing duties, as well as cleaning, janitorial services, and light maintenance as needed.
+ Assist all North Platte District sites with special projects and events.
Seasonal Maintenance Worker:
+ Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance, minor carpentry repairs, painting, and mowing.
+ Assist staff in the construction, installation, maintenance, renovation of grounds and buildings, and preventive maintenance.
+ Clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings, and remove litter from grounds, parking lots, and other public areas.
+ Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles, including light, and heavy equipment.
+ Operate various maintenance equipment, such as mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment required in daily operations. Utilize various hand and power tools.
+ Follow proper handling and safety procedures involving cleaning chemicals and fuel products encountered in daily operations, including proper Personal Protective Equipment usage.
+ Provide excellent customer service. May interact with the visiting public answering basic questions.
+ Assist all North Platte District sites with special projects and events.
Seasonal Visitor Services Associate - Museum Attendant:
+ Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service.
+ Answer visitor questions and provide pertinent information about the site, including interpretation and orientation of facilities and local points of interest.
+ Give informational tours of the facility; perform programs, hands-on activities, and other special projects and events alone and with other staff.
+ Perform opening and closing duties and janitorial services to the museum facility.
+ Assist with recordkeeping, reports, and data entry.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
For all seasonal positions, preference may be given to applicants who are professional while providing excellent customer service.
**Must have a valid driver's license.
**Must be at least 16 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks.
+ Good interpersonal skills, allowing the ability to interact with visitors from around the world.
+ Willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day.
+ Experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales.
+ Must possess excellent customer service skills.
+ Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work.
+ Basic construction and maintenance knowledge.
+ Basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, as well as hand and power tools.
+ Basic safety awareness of equipment use.

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Must work outdoors in all weather conditions.
+ Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.

+ Housing may be provided.
+ Seasonal positions require irregular hours of work, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
