GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Wyoming State Parks is seeking seasonal interpretive rangers for the summer of 2025. Interpretive rangers are our front-line staff who engage and enlighten visitors about a site's natural and cultural resources. The employment season is from May 15th to September 15th with some flexibility either way, working 40 hours a week. The rate of pay is $12-$16 per hour. Some seasonal positions may begin earlier in the year and extend longer into the fall. Please refer to the Essential Functions for more detailed information about job duties. All sites have optional housing provided (RV, dorm, etc.). These positions are stationed at one site but work on programs throughout the district. The proposed housing locations, though subject to change within each district, are: Big Horn District in Northwest WY: Stationed at Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis; Absaroka District in Northeast WY: Stationed at Keyhole State Park near Moorcroft; North Platte District in Central/Eastern WY: Stationed at Edness Kimball Wilkins in Evansville; and Shoshone District in Southwest WY: Stationed at Sinks Canyon State Park in Lander. Watch our recruitment video here: Human Resource Contact: stacy.sprengeler@wyo.gov (stacy.sprengeler@wyo.gov,) / 307-777-7010 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level. + Perform programs, guided hikes, hands-on activities, and other personal interpretations with other staff and alone. + Assist with special projects and events. + Assist in creating social media, outreach, and other non-personal content. + Responsible for administrating, restocking, tracking program inventory, and helping care for equipment and supplies. + Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service. + Answer visitor questions, and provide pertinent information about the site, including interpretation and orientation of facilities and local points of interest. + Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry. + Perform opening and closing duties, janitorial services, and maintenance as needed. + May be required to assist with cleaning or feeding/watering live animal exhibits. + Work with colleagues from other agencies, community organizations, etc. Qualifications PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: For all seasonal positions, preference will be given to applicants who are professional while providing excellent customer service. **Must have a valid driver's license. **Must be at least 16 years of age. KNOWLEDGE: + Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks. + Good interpersonal skills allow the ability to interact with visitors from around the world. + Willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day. + Must possess excellent customer service skills. + Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work. + Basic operational knowledge of light requirement use, as well as hand and power tools. + Basic safety awareness of equipment use. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None - See "Preferences" Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: + Must work outdoors in all weather conditions. + Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs with or without assistance. + Will be required to work some weekends, evenings and holidays.
