Public Safety Attendants must be 18 years in age or older.  GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Work activities in this position primarily involve providing information to the public; prevention of unsafe conditions and the assurance that park visitors adhere to rules and regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The list below is intended to describe the general nature of duties only. Employee shall perform other duties as assigned. + Work primarily with the Police Department and assist the Park Operations Department. + Directs traffic and enforces parking and traffic regulations on park property. + Answers questions and gives directions to park visitors. + Advises park visitors of the park rules and regulations relating to park usage. + Assigns and checks park visitor and user permits. + Patrols sledding and toboggan hills and other winter sports areas as assigned. + Patrols hike/bike trails using bicycle and/or motorized vehicle such as moped, scooter, etc. + Renders first aid and summons medical help when necessary.  + Protects public from emergency hazards. + Assists in the maintenance of area assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Ability to get along with co-workers, supervisors, and park visitors. + Ability to operate bicycle, moped, or other type of motorized vehicle. + Ability to distinguish letters and symbols. + Ability to communicate using telephone and/or radio equipment. + Ability to work in all weather conditions. + Ability to traverse sandy, marshy and wooded areas with even and uneven terrain. + Will be required to 5 days per week including assigned special events, weekends, evenings and holidays. + Will be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs. + Must be able to work 5 days out of the week including weekends and holidays + Ability to perform essential duties.
