Overview The Tax Preparer is responsible for accurately preparing and timely filing tax returns, focusing on more complex returns, while providing backup support and resolving tax-related issues. This role involves maintaining bookkeeping records for business clients, processing Form 1099’s, representing clients in tax matters, ensuring client confidentiality, providing tax advice in compliance with IRS regulations, educating clients on tax laws, pursuing ongoing education, fostering client relationships, and scheduling client appointments. Essential Duties Tax Return Preparation: Accurately prepare and timely file tax returns, with a focus on complex returns for individuals and businesses. Bookkeeping Support: Work with business clients to maintain bookkeeping records, including entering bank transactions and preparing adjusting journal entries. Form 1099 Processing: Process annual Form 1099’s for clients, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations. Client Representation: Represent clients in tax-related matters with IRS and state agencies, including preparing response letters and resolving issues. Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client tax information and personal documents. Tax Advisory Services: Provide accurate and compliant tax advice to clients, ensuring adherence to IRS rules and regulations. Client Education: Educate clients on tax laws, regulations, and their impact on their businesses, fostering understanding and compliance. Continued Education: Pursue continuing education courses annually to stay updated with tax laws and maintain licensure. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the year, providing ongoing support and guidance. Client Communication: Answer client calls, emails, and inquiries promptly, and schedule appointments to discuss tax matters as needed. Education & Experience 4+ years of relevant experience in accounting/tax preparation for individuals, businesses, partnerships and trusts Certificates & Licenses Current Enrolled Agent license. Active PTIN. Preferred Skills Strong attention to detail. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience with Lacerte, QB Desktop and Online preferable. Has filed a Power of Attorney and contacted the IRS on a client’s behalf. Compensation: $35-$38 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the compensation to be offered for this position based on the ideal candidate’s qualifications, the Company’s operational needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
