Secondary Marketing Analyst

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Secondary Marketing Analyst to participate in our secondary market operations. This role is responsible for analyzing and assisting in managing interest rate risk, developing and executing pricing strategies, and ensuring compliance with mortgage-related regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortgage lending, including experience with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GNMA, and private investors, as well as FHA, VA, and USDA reporting. Responsibilities include pricing, lock desk, and post-closing functions. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Capital Markets:

Experienced mortgage capital and secondary market professional, providing guidance to teams on product development, marketing strategies, and client engagement. Experience with pipeline hedging, trading, pricing, and lock desk functions. Knowledge of post-closing functions, ensuring the preparation of necessary investor documentation. Ensure the timely and efficient execution of capital markets strategies to align with goals set by management. Collaborate with management to confirm that new products align with investor appetites for credit, operations, reputation, and interest rate risk. Manage pipeline interest rate risk through a hedging program. Analyze market conditions and develop loan sale strategies to optimize profitability. Monitor bond market trends daily, staying informed on economic news, indicators, and advancements in mortgage banking. Assist in creating policies and procedures governing all Capital Markets and MSR functions to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. Conduct market surveys to ensure competitive pricing of portfolio products. Assist in the design and launch of innovative mortgage products for both portfolio and secondary market loans, addressing balance sheet strategies, market dynamics, and customer needs. Present risk assessments of various capital market initiatives to management. Ensure loan pricing is accurate while reviewing Lock Desk operations for financial implications Ensure loan pipeline is compliant along with making any necessary changes throughout the loan stages. Generate daily rate sheets within pricing model and margins for company distribution along with watching the bond market to make any necessary changes throughout the day. Responsible for bid tapes and loans purchases while running best execution analysis. Run daily hedge report to assess company's position. Purchase Advice and funding reconciliation. Work with production and investors to resolve pricing, lock, closing, or delivery issues.

 

Post-Closing:

Responsible for assisting in post-closing operations. Ensure loans are booked, shipped, purchased, in a timely and efficient manner. Identifies loan defects and coordinates with appropriate department heads to ensure loan is compliant with sale requirements.  

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, CAPABILITIES & SKILLS

Experience working with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GNMA, and other private investors In-depth understanding of mortgage lending processes, including origination, pricing, and secondary markets Familiarity with mortgage-related regulatory and compliance standards and credit policy Proven experience in working with multiple investor relationships, including both servicing-released and servicing retained investors. Excellent organizational, problem solving, analytical, planning, and scheduling skills. Strong negotiation skills. Extensive industry/business knowledge. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills. Strong analytical and financial modelling skills. Strategic thinker with strong technical skills. Understanding of conforming pricing and the whole loan sale process. Understanding of the Mortgage P&L and how to value mortgage assets. Ability to move quickly, while operating with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS degree required Minimum of 4 years of experience Must be proficient in Excel Data mining knowledge a plus Optimal Blue experience preferred
