Summary Reemployed annuitant: This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Responsibilities Maintains supervisor's calendar and schedules meetings and appointments based on overall objectives or priorities as defined or directed by the supervisor. Arranges local conferences or provides support for conferences to include reserving conference facilities and arranging for computer and audio equipment. Receives, reviews, processes and/or composes correspondence, and is the office point of contact for all incoming and outgoing correspondence. Uses a computer to produce a variety of materials, i.e., correspondence, technical reports, briefings, tables and forms, as well as LiveLink, SharePoint, Task Tracking System, and other automated tools and systems to complete assignments. Maintains controls of incoming correspondence, determines assignment to appropriate subordinate organizational offices and due dates, and tracks to ensure suspense dates are met. Screens incoming calls; determines which calls can be handled by supervisor's subordinates or by employees in other offices and tactfully transfers them, as appropriate. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications All qualification and time-in-grade (if applicable) requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp. Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the proficiency requirement, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 or equivalent level. Specialized experience includes serving as secretary or administrative assistant to a senior manager, and establishing and maintaining internal administrative procedures and control of the office; managing supervisor's calendar, scheduling conferences, and making travel arrangements; using automated systems to input requests for personnel actions (RPAs), maintaining controls of incoming and outgoing correspondence; and serving as the initial point of contact for visitors and callers, and providing or coordinating responses on non-technical matters. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/standards/group-stds/gs-cler.asp Proficiency Requirement: You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience GS-8: You may substitute eighteen months of graduate level education which is directly related to the work of the position. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html).
