Job Description

The Section Engineering Manager is appointed in terms of the MHSA as 2.13.1 provide overall management and is accountable for the overall engineering and asset management across a clearly defined portion of the overall complex operation.

Responsibilities:

Provides visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development and Anglo American values.Contributes to the development of the strategic operational plans and strategy but has direct accountability for the execution of such strategies within the area of accountability.Develops, implements and monitors engineering maintenance, risk and operational tactics and plans to deliver the business objectives.Provides and oversees engineering services, infrastructure (roads, power, water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals.Leads and manages resources (labour, spares, suppliers. Contractors etc) to deliver production targets and projects as required.Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.Ensures compliance to all group, BU and other engineering and asset management standards and specifications within the area of accountability.Monitors health of discipline and takes necessary action to ensure that the operation is adequately staffed with required skill level, inclusive of mentoring and development plans for subordinates.Develop, set and manage the engineering and maintenance budgets.Accountable and ensures the implementation of key strategic initiatives such as the operating model, asset management and SIB deployment.Manages implementations and contributes to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes.To lead and or solicit the help of group technical expertise for complex or repeated failure modes.Maintain a library of relevant engineering documentation within the operation inclusive, backups, drawings, manuals, parts list, OEM manuals etc.SIB projects planning and execution in collaboration with the Site PMO office.

This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

You will need the following:

GCC Mines and Works (Government Certificate of Competency)Relevant Tertiary qualification

Experience

Five years post engineering qualification experience.Experience in underground mining is essentialTrackless mining experience is advantageousKnowledge and experience in Asset Management strategiesProject management experience
