We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Manager, Curation Collections, to join our team with teammate company Barrios Technology, Inc. 

The Section Manager will manage, supervise, and administratively direct the activities of employees in the Curation Collections Section.  Responsibilities include leadership of a diverse team of scientists performing Astromaterials curation work.  Collections include lunar, meteorite, solar wind particles, cometary dust particles, samples retrieved from asteroids, microparticle impact, and Mars 2020 CK. The section also includes education outreach and Data Center functions. 

The Section Manager will be responsible for all aspects of personnel and project management in the section, including\: 

Provide effective managerial and technical leadership to a team of scientists and personnel providing services to the NASA Astromaterials Research Exploration Division at the Johnson Space Center. Work closely with the NASA curators for each collection to determine near term and long-term tasks, priorities, schedules, improvements, and reporting items. Provide status reports to Jacobs and NASA management. Establish daily and weekly task priorities and resource assignments, direct the staff and resolve schedule and resource issues as they arise. Manage employee performance, conduct interviews, and hiring, and evaluate performance. Perform additional duties as required.​ *

Requisition Qualifications\:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. 

A BS degree and a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience are typically required. ​Experience supervising or managing employees engaged in technical or scientific pursuits. Demonstrable experience in project management, the use of project management tools, and the project life cycle for science or technical projects. Demonstrable experience working with customers in a project-based environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills​

Requisition Preferences\:

​BS degree in a Geoscience field with experience working in a science environment, or MS degree with experience working in a science environment. Advanced degree in a Geosciences field. Experience with or familiarity with Astromaterials.​

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance by an established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust the schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
