Section Manager – Civil (Power)

**Description**
This position is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of Civil engineers, designers, and drafters within the Civil Section of Power Global Practice Mumbai. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by the Civil & Structural department manager and senior management:
+ Ensure compliance with company safety policies.
+ Disciplined and accountable leader who is adaptable to change, innovative and technologically strong, focused on problem-solving, open to continuous learning, able to balance the needs of both customers and employees, and aligned with the company’s vision.
+ Work to develop the careers of team members in the section to grow strategically with the other members of the department in Mumbai.
+ Implement, apply and support the company and global practice programs and initiatives, successfully navigating and managing change within the section.
+ Provide technical and design guidance and support.
+ Effectively recruit, develop, train and retain staff to contribute toward department and global practice goals.
+ Be available and approachable for employees to resolve their challenges and queries.
+ Provide continuous mentoring and constructive feedback throughout the year and conduct mid-year as well as annual performance evaluations for the staff.
+ Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to staff.
+ Responsible for QA/QC process adherence within the section. Work towards common goals and objectives of the department, global practice, and the company.
+ Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems and making informed decisions.
+ Foster innovation for continual improvement in project execution methods and design tools used within the section to improve quality and productivity.
+ Supplement the department manager and be responsible for fostering a healthy and vibrant employee-owner culture within the team, leveraging sound team-building practices, administration of effective conflict resolution, promotion of ownership mentality, and exhibiting the MacCulture principals.
+ Plan and manage project workload for assigned staff, recommend hiring or loaning when needed.
+ Supporting or leading portions of Department meetings.
+ Approve timecards and watch over billable time for employees in the section.
+ Expected to maintain about 50%-60% of self-billability while performing above responsibilities.
+ Reports to Civil & Structural Department Manager in Mumbai.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in the civil engineering field.
+ Minimum 5 years related design experience.
+ Minimum 2 years of experience with the company and a Power Civil background preferred.
+ Strong preference for the following:
+ Experience interviewing and recruiting with Burns & McDonnell. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees and management.
+ Committed to continual learning and improvement.
+ Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
+ History of high performance as demonstrated and documented in the Burns & McDonnell performance management system.
+ High adaptability to new tools and processes.
