We are searching for an experienced Security and Operations Manager at our Addis Ababa facility. 


About the Programme

 
Palladium is developing a proposal to implement the Transforming Education in Ethiopia programme (TREE), funded by FCDO (UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office). TREE is a £20m GBP Technical Assistance Facility supporting Ethiopia’s education sector across three main outcome areas:

School Leadership and Teacher TrainingEnglish as Language of InstructionEquity and Girls Education

 We are recruiting a project Security and Operations Manager (SOM) to oversee the security, logistics and operations of the TREE programme. The SOM will report to the programme Finance and Operations Lead and may be required to take line management responsibility.

Position Summary

 
The Security and Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the security, logistics and operations of the TREE programme. They will provide close guidance and support to the TREE programme team - primarily based in Addis Ababa - as well as to any regionally embedded team members across Ethiopia - in coordinating all operational, logistical, and security elements of the programme on a day-to-day basis. 


This will be a full-time position with an expected start after April 2024 and is expected to be based in Addis Ababa with some travel to other regions. This role is contingent on Palladium being successful in its proposal to deliver the FCDO’s TREE Programme.


Main responsibilities 

Coordinate travel arrangements for programme staff and consultants travelling to Ethiopia from other countries and within Ethiopia outside of their home region. Liaise with staff, consultants, and Palladium’s national and global safety and security team to ensure personnel safety.Manage the logistic arrangements of programme activities, workshops, and meetings for TREE staff in Addis Ababa. Coordinate with Regional leads to support delivery of workshops and activities outside of Addis Ababa.Manage relationships with Suppliers and procure products and services required by the TREE programme.Act as a key point of contact for any operational concerns, especially for international staff and consultants visiting the TREE project.Manage programme asset tracking and registration.Ensure adherence to and compliance with all Palladium and FCDO operational policies and procedures and overseeing contract management.Contribute to the tracking and mitigating country operational risks identified by TREE>Contribute to audit processes as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Key competencies and requirements 

Demonstrable experience of logistics, operations and security management, including adherence with company and client policies.Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and planning skills, demonstrated in professional settings.Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to research information and present it concisely
