SUMMARY
The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is seeking a talented and qualified individual to serve as Assistant Director for the Security Department which includes specific programs to include Dispatch, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), armed personnel Special Response Team (SRT) and K9 officers. The applicant must have previous Security Management, Law Enforcement and/or Military experience as well as organizational skills, exceptional guest service and problem solving skills.
As an Assistant Director you will take a lead role in ensuring a safe, hospitable, smooth, and efficient operation of the Security Department. This role is highly visible and interacts with sponsors, vendors, clients, and GSR Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director will be to provide the most responsive, knowledgeable, and courteous service by protecting not only the property, but also the safety of the guests and team members through observing, reporting, and taking action.
· Further develop and manage recruitment, training, and leadership capabilities of Security program
· Design and implement appropriate training for all Security team members as it relates to active assailant, active threats, and suspicious activity
· Respond to suspicious, unusual, or emergency situations using the appropriate escalation of force up to and including armed response by following established protocols
· Liaise with outside law enforcement and maintain good communications skills and professionalism with agencies such as Police Officials, Fire Department, FBI, Secret Service and Governmental Officials.
· Provide direction for daily operations of the Security Department and be a liaison of information from executives to officers.
· Review officer reports to ensure all pertinent information is included to ensure necessary information is provided prior to release to GSR executives/legal team.
· Observe and take part in pre-shift/post-shift briefings held on a daily basis.
· Prepare daily Activity Log containing information of activities that occurred on shift.
· Be observant in all areas inside/outside of the hotel for safety concerns or suspicious circumstances.
· Oversee overall Security Department training courses throughout all sections of the department to ensure officers, dispatch, SRT, K9 and management are current on security standards and tactics.
· Coordinate with Security Department Investigator to ensure investigative reports are detailed and properly ensure GSR employee safety and compliance of standards and policies.
· Make constant contact with both guests/ team members to provide optimal service. This includes contact with various hotel departments in an effort to provide/obtain pertinent information needed for guest service and safety/security.
· Ensure Security team member records are updated and monitored as appropriate, to include SRT qualifications, EMT certifications, annual training, and disciplinary records.
· Other duties may be assigned.

· Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage and assist with oversight of the Security Department.

· Has the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management personnel, staff, clients, and general public.

POST-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
You will be required to complete the following mandatory steps, post job offer, before beginning employment/working or attending New Hire Orientation:
· Maintain a valid Alcohol Awareness Card, present card to GSR Human Resources
· Maintain a registration with the Nevada Gaming Control Board, initiate registration with GSR Human Resources and complete all necessary steps.

English language written and oral is required. Additional languages are beneficial but not required. Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and employees at all levels of the company. Must possess a strong attention to detail and presentation skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, guests, and general public.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
