Security Assistant (OA)
Summary You will serve as a Security Assistant (OA) within NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Responsibilities You will have working familiarity with Access Control Systems (ACS). You will recognize/diagnose problems and manage resolution with the ACS system, the video recording system that monitors key entry/exit points and the alarm system consisting of various intrusion detection sensors. You will register new users, re-register existing users, program the access control points, provide training, and develop usage statistics. You will schedule and manage the Video Teleconferencing Center including opening/closing the facility, schedule the VTC sessions and remote connections, use of the VTC facility and ensures that VTC participants are properly cleared. You will confirm clearance levels of employees for registration with the various building access control systems, visitors to the building, VTC participants, and to pass clearances to other facilities. You will be the receptionist in the visitor lobby. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position has a Selective Placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The Selective Placement factor is: This position requires demonstrated experience with utilizing PC systems for data entry, retrieval, and manipulation. This position requires demonstrated customer service skills. The incumbent is required to utilize specialized security systems, Microsoft office applications, and personal interactions to facilitate the operation of the building. In addition to the Selective Placement Factor your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-1-4) or pay band (NC-01) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: (1) Research, interpret and apply a variety of rules and regulations including security processes and procedures; (2) Plan, draft, and carry out instructions policies and procedures such as those included in a security plan; (3) Scheduling conferences and meetings including the classified VTC, and other controlled areas; (4) Knowledge of office automation equipment and software; and (5) Communicating effectively both orally and in writing. Education In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successfully completed four years of education above high school level OR A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
