This position exists to actively monitor, assess, and respond to the security status of the Capitol complex on a 24/7 basis; coordinate the response system through dispatching services, completing detail logs for all services provided to the complex. This announcement will be used to fill multiple positions at this location. **Minimum Qualifications** 1. Successful applicant will have: One (1) year experience as a dispatcher for a public safety or military agency; OR One (1) year experience as a licensed police officer or military police; OR One (1) year experience using sound decision-making ability and good judgment. This would include the ability to cope with a variety of high stress situations and multiple work environment distractions such as in a: ER triage, EMT, call center rep/dispatcher for public utilities agency, police/fire communications center, security officer position or retail customer service representative. AND 1. Basic computer and keyboarding skills. 2. The ability to keyboard/type a variety of documents accurately to commensurate with the requirements of this position. 3. Effective listening skills. 4. Excellent written and oral communications. 5. High school diploma/GED. 6. Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. **Preferred Qualifications** 1. Post-Secondary course work in criminal justice, law enforcement or related fields. 2. Formal first aid/CPR training. 3. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook computer applications. 4. Working knowledge of the Capitol complex and associated grounds. 5. Professional certification from the Association of Public Safety Communications (APCO) Intl and/or National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED). **Physical Requirements** Light: Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from other and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
