Security Control Center Manager, Assistant Vice President

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the leadership, management and maturation of State Street’s North America Control Center Operations as well as oversight of performance and policy management for State Street’s control centers globally.  

This role requires a forward-thinking professional who is passionate about enhancing a world class security program commensurate with the needs of our internal and external customers and evaluating the evolving safety and security risks to Company assets.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The Global Security Control Center (GSCC) is a 24/7/365 security operation which manages incidents, events, and information for State Street and directs appropriate responses which help protect State Street’s assets, workforce and reputation.  The GSCC utilizes a variety of observation tools including multiple alarm monitoring applications and video surveillance platforms. These tools are used to investigate any incident that constitutes a violation of Global Security policy or any incident that could negatively impact the State Street’s business operations.  GSCC staff are responsible for initiating a response to such incidents and documenting their actions accordingly.  Such incidents may include duress calls, power outages, medical emergencies, fire alarms, employee terminations, inclement weather, terrorist activity, etc.  These incidents will frequently require interaction with various high level managers, security personnel, facility engineers and law enforcement personnel.

Influence and guide a diverse team in the collection, assessment, and reporting of relevant threat intelligence/actionable security information and shape appropriate response

Selection and management of vendor/partner staff. Provide leadership and guidance

Mature and maintain Operational Procedures in support of the control center

Ensure serviceability and accountability of all control center equipment and software

Knowledge of access control systems and CCTV operation

Knowledge of Mass Communication Systems

Drive innovation and change to adapt with the everchanging threat landscape and align with company and department goals

Positive attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills

Broad knowledge of and experience with open-source intelligence gathering, analysis, and reporting best practices

Understanding of incident escalation processes to include operational resiliency and recovery objectives

Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels in a high pressure and fast paced environment

Ensure staffing levels meet operational requirements

New hire interviews and selection

Ensure consistent and effective training of staff responsible for alarm monitoring, intelligence research and analysis, travel safety, incident management, and workplace safety issues 

Ensure compliance with State Street procedures and expectations

Coaching and Counseling staff

Investigate and resolve complaints

Partner and collaborate with Global Security Management staff on incident reporting and resolution

Participate in and act as subject matter expert in support of Global Security Incident Management team; liaison with other key stakeholders during incidents and emergencies

Establish strong team objectives and measure them against Key Performance Indicators

Participate in Business Continuity exercises onsite at relocation site in Grafton, MA (25-50%)

Travel to and assess other State Street control center locations globally (25%)

Be available in an on-call capacity

Perform other related tasks as required

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred

5+ years of progressive, security-related experience, law enforcement, emergency services, military, or other relevant experience

Previous experience working in and leading personnel in a Global Security Operations Center or similar command center experience

A minimum of one (2) years management or systems experience required 

Proficiency with electronic access control applications/hardware. Professional certification in the security field desirable, not required (CPP, PSP, PCI)  

Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and motivate 

Willingness to be active in the training, coaching, and development of their team 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint

 Must be able to work with a high sense of propriety required to process sensitive and business confidential information.

Strong organizational skills 

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the company and across diverse cultures 

Strong understanding of electronic access control applications and hardware

Understanding of security operations. 

Ability to be an effective leader and member of project teams. 

Strong time management and multitasking skills as well as attention to detail 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to concisely and effectively address questions and provide subject matter expertise on systems and procedures  

Desire for continual personal development and operational development 

Must possess a valid driver’s license

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $132,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
