Job Description

GDIT, a Federal marketplace leader in next-generation IT solutions and professional services, is seeking highly qualified and motivated IT professionals like you who are eager to contribute to our critical Homeland Security missions.  GDIT is supporting Department of the Homeland Security (DHS) software development and application enhancements. GDIT is excited to offer you a unique opportunity to join an Agile Team utilizing CI/CD pipeline to support one of our nation’s most critical homeland missions.

GDIT is seeking a highly motivated security engineer to join our growing team to develop, support, and modernize mission-critical applications for our DHS customer. The successful candidate will help to develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications. You will also provide support and technical advice during conceptualization, development, and implementation phases to transform requirements to working solutions. This includes involvement with users to define system scope and objectives, as well as contributing to design decisions.

US Citizenship required. Candidate must be local to the Virginia office.

HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Analyze security systems and seek improvements on a continuous basisReport possible threats or software issuesAbility to implement cost-effective solutions to cybersecurity problemsUnderstand software and hardware implementation in datacenter and cloud environmentsDevelop best practices and security standards for the organizationTest application software and patchesAssist fellow employees with cybersecurity, software, hardware or IT needsScrum/agile project lifecycle approach to resolving vulnerabilities

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required Skills / Qualifications:

U.S. CitizenshipDHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final SuitabilityBachelors degree or equivalent and 10+ years of security experienceExperience / basic understanding of Java programming languageExperience deploying and monitoring web applications in AWSExperience with secure development, coding, and engineering practicesKnowledge with end-to-end fully-automated CI/CD pipelines, from code commits to productionExperience with build automation CM toolsExperience in Jira to support DevOps implementation in an Agile environmentExperience in Agile methodologyLocation Hybrid

Desired Skills / Qualifications:

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication skillsCertifications such as CISSP, GSEC, CEH or CISM desiredAn understanding of best practices and how to implement them at a business-wide levelsFamiliar with Ansible TowerFamiliar with Redshift and AWSExperience with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, MavenExperience with Jira to support configuration management in an Agile environment
