As a Dispatcher, you will play an essential role in this mission and be a part of our growing organization. Dispatchers are responsible for protecting patients, visitors, caregivers and hospital property by coordinating and addressing the Security Dispatch Office activities and responsibilities.  

A caregiver in this position works every Friday from 2:00pm – 10:30pm.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Receive calls and requests for service and formulate correct responses. 

Regulate radio traffic by dispatching calls and relaying information. 

Answer questions and give directions to visitors, caregivers and patients. 

Monitor hospital activity on closed circuit television to be alerted to any escalating situations or unusual activity that may require Security involvement and responds appropriately. 

Implement procedures for emergency situations such as fire, disaster, infant abduction, tornado, bomb threat, etc. as indicated in the Security Department Facility Orders and the M.C.I. Manual. 

Complete appropriate and accurate documentation for dispatch logs, equipment logs, helipad logs, lost and recovered property, patient valuables, occurrence reports, etc. 

Maintain knowledge of operation of access control systems. 

Maintain knowledge of all alarm systems and appropriate responses. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

High school graduate.   

Computer software proficiency.  

Typing and data entry skills.  

Clear speaking voice over a security radio system.  

Ability to dispatch personnel in escalating situations.  

Visual acuity to monitor security screens continuously.  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Previous security and/or dispatch experience.
