Job Description

The Security Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring, and managing secure solutions! The Security Engineer delivers these solutions in accordance with the organization's architectural designs, standard methodologies, and regulatory or compliance requirements. As risks change, the Security Engineer is responsible for recommending and developing modifications and enhancements to ensure the organization is evolving with the threat landscape.

Handling day-to-day design, build, testing, deployment/release management, and monitoring of security solutions and platforms. This may also include automation of tasks related to operational support of cloud infrastructure, software, customer applications, managed solutions, and service provider relationships.

Actively participating and leading security team meetings that facilitate secure design and comprehensive requirement's gathering.

Engaging in information security projects that evaluate existing security infrastructure and proposing changes as defined by security leadership and architects. Additionally, delivering development projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs).

Implementing solutions observing compliance, including internal software development and technical standards, as well as external standards and frameworks such as CIS (Center for Internet Security) and OWASP.

Working in tandem with architects, the security operations center (SOC), incident responders (in cases of anomalous activity and host compromise), technology infrastructure, and development team members.

Developing security test plans from architectural design, identifying deficiencies, and making improvements to ensure production is not impacted.

Researching, validating, and deploying solutions that meet security and business needs.

Following security engineering fundamentals and processes as outlined in NIST 800-160.

Focusing on driving security efficiencies, enabling security team members to work on more sophisticated tasks.

Conducting performance testing to stress the limitations of security solutions while ensuring business innovation and day-to-day processes are not negatively impacted.

Working to consistently learn and share sophisticated skills and practices that promote team excellence.

Job Qualifications

In process of acquiring a BS or MS in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, or related field.Experience in information technology, information security administration, or security operations.Experience in cloud computing technologies, including software, infrastructure, and platform-as-a-service, as well as public, private, and hybrid environments.You must be available during the Summer of 2025 between Mid/ Late May through early August

QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED)

Capable of scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or equivalent.Knowledge of integration patterns such as API design, build, implementation, testing, and deployment processes.Knowledge of access patterns, storage and database options, and data retrieval logic.Understanding of OWASP, CVSS, the MITRE ATT&CK framework, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).Experience with DevSecOps concepts and agile workflows, including Scrum and Kanban.External/Industry Certifications (preferably one or more or working toward one or more) of the following: CCSP, CISS, TOGAF, Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFE), Security & Risk Frameworks: OWASP, CVSS, the MITRE ATT&CK framework, DevOps Institute.
