The role of Security Guard involves clerical work for the Security Department, operating radio, telephones, and computerized communication equipment. You will work under the supervision of a Communications Sergeant and may have to work varying or rotating shifts.  This role offers great growth opportunities, and is a great stepping stone for individuals looking to pursue a career in law enforcement or similar fields. ResponsibilitiesOperate radio, telephones, and computerized communication equipment.Work under the supervision of a Communications Sergeant.Perform duties as licensed security/communication officers on a 24/7 basis.Work five 8-hour shifts per week, totaling 40 hours, with occasional overtime.Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in all security-related tasks.Act with independence and initiative in daily performance of duties.Foster teamwork and work harmoniously with fellow employees.Meet and deal with the public in a tactful, professional manner.Transcribe radio and telephone messages quickly and accurately.Make appropriate decisions when reacting to various situations involving the safety of persons and property.Determine priorities among simultaneous requests and messages.Follow oral and written instructions accurately.Essential SkillsCompletion of pre-assignment security tapes, safety orientation, MSDS program, and emergency evacuation training.CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Perspective, and other computer systems.Knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations related to loss prevention and property management.Ability to maintain composure and make appropriate decisions in various situations.Ability to transcribe radio and telephone messages quickly and accurately.Ability to meet and deal with the public in a tactful, professional manner.Ability to learn new procedures and adapt existing ones to new situations.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficient in English language.Ability to type at a reasonable speed with accuracy.Considerable knowledge of departmental rules and procedures.Knowledge of codes and abbreviations for radio communications.Optional training in flagging for special events.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work is performed both inside and outdoors. The role requires working varied shift assignments, sometimes on an unscheduled or emergency basis, including weekends and holidays.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49000.00 - $50960.00
