+ This position is responsible for responding to emergency scenes (patrol, fire, and EMS), operation of fire apparatus and equipment, and fire and security duties.
+ Work assignments include, but are not limited to, inspecting and/or cleaning, servicing, testing, repairing, maintaining and installing firefighting equipment, fire control equipment firefighting facilities, fire fighting vehicles and emergency medical equipment; rendering first aid to the sick and injured; demonstrating firefighting techniques and conducting inspections for fire hazards.
+ Emergency services Technician may frequently lift and/or move heavy tools and/or equipment. Carry (over the shoulder) or drag victims out of buildings, and/or assist in lifting patients onto a stretcher, may occasionally be required to sit, climb at tall heights, balance, stoop, crawl, talk, hear, taste and smell.
+ This position is within a heavy industrial environment and will be required to work within various areas of the Great Lakes Works facility. Dependent upon the area, the environmental condition can be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet and noisy.
+ This position will require working rotating shifts, including Saturdays and Sundays.
+ The position also requires working overtime as needed.
Requirements:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ State of Michigan Emergency medical Technician Certification.
+ Firefighter 1 & 2 certification
Preferred Skills:
+ Experience in Medical or Fire field
