Security Officer Trainer (PPSB certified)

 

 

SUMMARY:
Plans, schedules, coordinates, facilitates and presents training focused on providing the highest quality security personnel for the accounts supported by the Branch Office. Assists with onboarding and personnel recordkeeping for new hires and current employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned by the Regional Vice President (RVP) or Director of Learning and Development:
• Coordinates and conducts all instructor-led training for both internally and externally developed programs including, but not limited to Initial Security Officer Training (ISOT) program, re-training programs, annual In- Service Training, firearms, use of force, less-than-lethal weapons, safety, and orientation. specialized training sessions and all other instructor-led training for security officers and security supervisors within the branch/organization;
• Participates as a subject-matter expert with respect to training certifications in order to provide updates to new and existing training content, give guidance to new and existing officers and inform the Director or Learning & Development of new training requirements, best practices and techniques.;
• Works with all local HR and Operations team members to communicate licensing and training requirements including but not limited to security license status, training certification expiration, past due training, and upcoming training schedule.
• Works with local HR and Operations team to schedule new-hire training classes around business needs.
• Works with all levels in the organization to identify, analyze, and solve problems and creates opportunities for continuous improvement; Mentors and reports on progress of new employees under guidance during training periods to the Branch Human Resources Manager, RVP or General Manager;
• Maintains training, licensing and compliance records by accurately entering all training and licensing information into the Learning Management System and works with Learning & Development to correct any discrepancies.
• Supports recruiting activities within the branch and delivers drug screening, orientation and onboarding paperwork to new employees;
• Oversees all uniform orders assignments, exchanges, or reimbursements while maintaining uniform room cleanliness and inventory;
• Maintains confidentiality of all information and data.
• Will travel as needed to provide required training to officers and officer candidates, usually up to 50% of the time;
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager, RVP, or Director of Learning & Development;

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required. Some college education or business classes desirable.
• Minimum 1 – 2 years of professional-level experience required. Prior experience in the fire service, security industry, law enforcement and/or military highly desired.
• Experience in security operations or other functions of security industry a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations using the English language. Ability to write reports, internal business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, the Branch Training Manager should possess intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and should have a working knowledge of Internet programs and learning management systems.

• Valid Drivers’ License
• State Security Instructor/Trainer License (if applicable)
• NRA Instructor Certification
• Less-Than-Lethal Weapons (OC Spray, Baton, Handcuff and Unarmed Self Defense)Instructor Certification
• CPR/AED First Aid Instructor Certification

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Energetic and focused personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines. Must be highly organized and able to keep on track with required information available at all times.
• Ability to deliver specific training programs in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations, and Walden Security standards; CPR/First Aid/AED; Firearms; Defensive Tactics; Mobility Devices (e.g. vehicles, bicycle, golf cart, Segway); Fire Safety Services (emergency plans; occupants, floor wardens and staff presentations; and evacuation drills); provide other value-added services such as workplace violence/active shooter training.
• Professional, articulate and able to use good independent judgment and discretion. Must have proven ability to maintain correspondence, discussions and materials in strictest confidence.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including with clients, while functioning as a team player.
• Must customarily and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the normal course of day-to-day activities to schedule appointments in order to carry out responsibilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive working relationships with other employees, management and others outside of the company;
• Ability to deal with internal and external customers and to ensure compliance with fair employment practices and perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and to work evenings, weekends and holidays as requested or required.
• Ability to pass a drug screen, credit check and criminal background check.
