Position Summary:
The primary purpose of the Security Sensitive Investigations Specialist position is to conduct security sensitive background investigations on prospective university employees, contractors, volunteers, faculty, and others to determine their potential security risk.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Conducts security sensitive background investigations on prospective employees, contractors, volunteers, and others using open-source information and and/or other applicable security and/or law enforcement databases. Utilizes the Harris County Justice Information Management System/District Attorney Intake Management System (JIMS/DIMS), and/or communicates with outside law enforcement agencies, to obtain policy summary reports when further investigations are warranted. Conducts administrative and criminal related investigation. Determines whether prospective employees, contractors, volunteers, and others pose security risks to the University, and communicates the determinations to the appropriate representative. Receives security sensitive appeals, attaches the appropriate investigation documentation, and forwards to supervisor for review and determination. Communicates appeal decisions to the appropriate institutional representative. Organizes and maintains security sensitive investigation and appeal files in accordance with institutional and divisional policies. Law Enforcement/Security Personnel Recruiting. Provides operational support to the Recruitment Unit to include reviewing candidate applications, collecting appropriate documentation necessary to conduct UT Police employee background checks in accordance with UT Police and ODOP standards, and report findings. Serves as lead in conducting initial screening interviews for assigned position vacancies. Coordinates polygraph testing and other related background check activities. Preforms other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills:

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience:
Three (3) years of investigative experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
