We are currently seeking a Security Specialist II (PERSEC) to support our NSWC customer in Crane, IN. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following duties, as well as possess the following education and experience.
Required Duties:
Gather and transmit information and documentation requested by external agencies to support investigations, adjudications, and maintenance of security clearance eligibility. Administer and process security-related information and requests contained in locally developed workflow processes. Evaluates internal and external security clearance requests and ensures applicants’ actions are consistent with regulatory requirements. Coordinates development of and document access authorization justification and rationale for positions requiring access; and analyzes and reports on clearances and appeals findings to senior security officials and make appropriate notifications. Debrief separating employees and process electronic fingerprints in the Secure Web Fingerprint Transfer (SWFT) system of record and via 3rd party vendor. Communicate status changes in security clearance access and/or eligibility to subject employees. Manages eligibility and clearance requirements for access to National Security information in compliance with applicable regulations, directives and policies by applying personnel security principles and methods to process initial clearances, periodic re-investigations, clearance upgrades/downgrades, continuous evaluation process, and to facilitate the adjudication and appeals processes. Evaluates, analyzes, and collects information pertaining to completed background investigations conducted by the appropriate authorities; determines the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions. Audit personnel security records for adequacy and sufficiency. Process visit requests in JPAS for command travelers. Conduct information collection activities and provide briefings in support of new-employee indoctrinations.Desired Education:
BS or BA degree is desired; ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: An AA or AA degree and additional four (2) years of experience; OR an additional (6) years of experience may be substituted for a BS or BA degree
Desired Experience:
· Applicants must have (2) years of experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Applicants must demonstrate the ability or have endorsements that indicate the ability to learn and perform the cited position's duties.
· Must demonstrate knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information and the process for granting personnel security clearances/accesses, and knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies in carrying out information, personnel, and physical security programs related to the protection of SCI.
· Applicant should have knowledge of the methods of performing such duties as conducting inspections and investigations, collecting and analyzing information, etc., and skill in weighing the impact of variables such as critical personnel qualifications, variations in building construction characteristics, access and entry restrictions, equipment availability, and other issues that influence the course of actions taken in resolving security questions and issues.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
