Security Specialist - NISSC II

Our NORAD Operations Group

 

Selected by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Strategic Warning and Surveillance Systems Division for Operations, Maintenance, and Sustainment (OM&S) of critical mission systems for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex (NCMC), we support the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II).

 

Since 2020, through the (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II), has provided\:

·       Operations, maintenance, and Sustainment of current and legacy systems for the surveillance and cataloging of manmade objects in space.

·       Mitigation of orbital conflicts.

·       Threat warnings and control from airborne, land-based, and space-based systems for threat activities.

·       Operations and maintenance of classified communications.

·       Software development and integration.

 

NISSC II supports the classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability and legacy space C2 systems located at\:

·       Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station (CMSFS), Colorado

·       Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), Colorado

·       Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska

·       Vandenberg Space Force Base, California

·       Numerous sensor and forward operator sites around the world

 

Description of Duties\:

The Security Specialist supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II).

 

The NISSC II Security Specialist is responsible for assisting the Security Manager in implementing the Industrial Security Program and ensuring the company and customer security requirements are met. The Security Specialist will be required to interface with all levels of the department, division and government management, and personnel and maintain the skills to cultivate relationships for optimal contract security performance.

 

The candidate will\:

·       Initiate, review, and process Personnel Security Clearances and Periodic Re-investigations.

·       Assist the Security Manager in room inspections and participate in government telephonic and in-person COR surveillances and inspections.

·       Assist the Security Manager in the development of quarterly trainings and keep documentation of training rosters

·       Ability to work as a team player, demonstrate flexibility and excellent organizational skills.

·       Excellent customer service skills, professional demeanor and interpersonal skills.

·       Ability to work independently and as part of a high performing team

·       Be available to respond to alarms after standard work hours.

·       Can support off-hour operations requirements as needed.

·       Security Specialist may travel from Cheyenne Mountain to Amentum Facility for training or cross-training purposes

·       Must be able to assist the Amentum Facility security team when needed. 

·       Security Specialist will process Visit Access Requests, Entry Access List, Parking Requests, and Temporary Badges while at the NORAD facility (Cheyenne Mountain)

·       Complete the FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities training with in first year of employment (will be required within one year of employment)

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the below\:

 

·       The position requires a self-motivated candidate that is capable of working in an independent or team environment with minimal direction, customer service orientated.

·       Ability to climb stairs on a daily basis in an unusual environment which requires change in altitude and weather

·       2 or more years of directly related experience

·       3 or more years of general work experience

·       Experience as a security specialist in the military or as a contractor

·       Experience with Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access

 

Desired Requirements\:

·       Clearance\: TS/SCI

·       COMSEC Custodian certificate or experience.

·       Knowledge of Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems

·       Experience working in military and defense contractor environments

·       Knowledge of pre-foreign travel briefing forms and post foreign travel briefings 

·       Knowledge of physical security requirements to include Open Storage and Restricted Areas

·       Ability to interpret company and government security policies and apply them to program operations.

·       Familiarity with 32 CFR, Part 117 (NISPOM), National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)

·       Working knowledge of DISS, NBIS and experience with stand forms used by the government and industry facilities (SF-86, SF-312, SF700, SF702)

 

 

This position is expected to pay $55,000 - $70,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

·       Position will require climbing, working at heights, and in small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server racks.

·       Position will require sitting, stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching for long periods of time.

·       Position will require work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.

·       Position will require lifting and/or transporting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

·       There is a possibility that due to parking availability and the location of work, traveling moderate to long distances may be required.

·       General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

·       Servers, switches, routers, and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.
