Primary Job Functions:
General responsibilities
Responds to crisis situations throughout facility and implements proper MindSet and UKERU interventionsDemonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situationApplies seclusion and restraint per AltaPointe Policy and ProcedureConducts consumer and room searches for contraband items per AltaPointe Policy and ProcedureConducts admission searches and searches upon return from passLogs personal belongings into the facilityConducts Environmental Rounds on a daily basis and communicates any pertinent findings to the team leader and/or supervisorProvides monitoring and interaction with consumersPerforms hand-off communication at shift changeEffectively collaborates with the treatment team membersActively participates in Security team meetings for performance improvement purposesProvides staff training to staff on crisis intervention as neededModels appropriate behavior including but not limited to communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.Effectively demonstrates the application of adult specific competenciesRoutinely monitors camerasMaintains a presence within building and on unitsInquires as to reason of visit when/if visitors appear to be “hanging around”Conducts routine walk through of units, outside and parking lotsEffectively uses wands and walkie talkies along with charging them when not in useCheck out van and black bag, verify driver’s license and check vehicleNotifies management of issues that surfaceProvides back up support during visitationsProvides security during legal proceedingsAssist with on boarding new employeesSupervision and consultation

High school diploma or equivalent; for driving positions, must be at least age 23 have a valid driver license and proof of current liability insurance; knowledge of the adult specialties outlined below to be attained within six (6) months of employment.
Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in adult populations.Basic knowledge of growth and development of consumers as related to all intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of the consumers’ development.Basic knowledge of behavior management.Knowledge of cultural diversity.Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers, as well as, non-violent crisis intervention practices.Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to adult psychiatric disorders.Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles.Knowledge and application of crisis de-escalation techniques
