Join us. **Job Description** AECOM is seeking a **Sediment Remediation Engineer** with **8 years minimum experience** to support the design and implementation of sediment remediation projects. This position is ideal for an engineer who has significant experience in sediment remediation but is looking for an opportunity to build on their expertise while contributing to a variety of complex projects in river, lake, marine, and terrestrial environments. Experience with **CERCLA** (Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act) projects is essential. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery and regulatory compliance. We are open to having the candidate work from any location within the US Mainland. And we are also flexible to part time roles along with full time roles as well. **Key Responsibilities:** + **Sediment Site Assessments & Investigation:** Participate in sediment site assessments, including site characterization, sediment sampling, and contamination evaluations. Help interpret environmental data and assist in the preparation of technical reports detailing findings and recommendations. + **Remedial Design Support:** Assist in the design of sediment remediation strategies for contaminated sites. Contribute to the development of **Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies (RI/FS)** and **Remedial Action Plans (RAPs)** , focusing on technologies such as dredging, capping, in-situ treatment, and stabilization. + **Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:** Help prepare regulatory reports and documentation required for CERCLA compliance, including progress reports, technical memos, and regulatory submissions. Ensure that all activities align with environmental regulations at federal, state, and local levels. + **Project Support & Coordination:** Support senior engineers and project managers in day-to-day project execution. Assist with scheduling, coordinating fieldwork, and ensuring that project timelines and budgets are met. Track project progress and assist in managing resources. + **Career Progression & Project Management Development:** Transition from engineering-focused responsibilities to taking on increased project management duties, including managing smaller to mid-sized sediment remediation projects. Develop project management skills by overseeing the execution of key project deliverables, managing project budgets and timelines, and ensuring quality control. Gradually take on more responsibility for client interactions, project scope management, and coordination with internal teams, preparing for future advancement into larger, more complex project management roles. Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and scientists, fostering leadership and management skills within the team. + **Client & Stakeholder Interaction:** Support client communication and engagement. Provide updates on project status, assist with addressing client questions, and help coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental laws and permits. + **Health & Safety Compliance:** Adhere to and enforce health and safety standards during field activities and in the office. Support the development of Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) for field projects and ensure compliance with industry best practices. + **Post-Remediation Monitoring:** Assist in the development and implementation of post-remediation monitoring programs to evaluate the effectiveness of remediation measures. Help prepare monitoring reports and ensure compliance with long-term site management requirements. **Qualifications** Minimum Qualifications: + BA/BS degree or higher in Environment Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field AND 8, eight plus years of experience and education or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + Professional Certification such as: Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or any other advanced certifications in Environmental Science or related field + US Citizenship Preferred Qualifications: + 10 to 15 years of experience in sediment remediation or environmental engineering, with experience in sediment site investigations and remedial design. + Knowledge of sediment remediation technologies, including dredging, capping, and in-situ treatments. + Experience working on projects subject to CERCLA and other environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, Clean Water Act). + Solid understanding of sediment characterization techniques, contamination assessments, and environmental monitoring. + Familiarity with standard environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, and other federal/state laws. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and some familiarity with environmental modeling or project management software is desirable. + Strong organizational skills with the ability to support project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and reporting. + Ability to manage smaller project components independently while working under the guidance of senior staff. + Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports, regulatory submissions, and client updates + Ability to work with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders, clearly communicating project status and technical details. + Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. + Experience in managing client relationships, offering strategic guidance, and resolving client concerns. + HAZWOPER 40 - 8 hour refresher if needed **Additional Information** All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
