SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under direction, manages cluster of middle schools and/or high schools to support the work of career advisors, external support for MCPS students under WorkSource Montgomery. Serves as the primary point of contact between school administrators, staff, and career advisors. Collaborates with career advisors and school staff to ensure that individualized career counseling services delivered by career advisors are effectively implemented in middle and high schools. Manages the logistics of school-based and external student experiences within their cluster. Ensures all relevant regulations and policies related to external stakeholders and student engagement are communicated to career advisors; participates in school staff meetings; and provides or supports professional development opportunities for school staff on various career-advising topics. The career advising cluster lead engages in collaborative problem solving, oversees the coordination of MCPS staff and career advisors in each cluster in support of joint initiatives, and facilitates ongoing communication with staff within Office of School Based Support to include the College and Career Information Coordinators and Counselors, as well as the staff within Department of College and Career Readiness and Districtwide Programs, such as Dual Enrollment Program Assistants, Internship Coordinators, and Resource Teachers. Provides support to schools on a regular basis.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:


EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required. Experience in the field of college and career information and planning or business and employment practices. Experience in a supervisory or leadership position required. Experience working with and/or collaborating with adults or students of diverse backgrounds, cultures and experiences. Experience working in the secondary educational setting preferred. Additional education or training in counseling, education, or a related field is a plus. Experience working with multiple stakeholders in business and postsecondary level preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.
