Job Overview

The Infrastructure Support Engineer is responsible for providing support to all server infrastructure used by the semiconductor business unit (WSD) of Broadcom that resides in Fort Collins, Colorado. This role involves troubleshooting, documenting issues, and collaborating with development teams to engineer and enhance infrastructure server performance ensuring that it functions effectively and meets business needs.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in ensuring 24/7 availability of key services and infrastructure in production Windows/Linux environment2000+ FAB tools/clients, 500+ ServersManage Projects that directly support WSD FAB with expertise applied towards the following :Oracle Exadata Database Server Environment/InfrastructureWindows Server 2019 Environment/InfrastructureWindows SQL Failover Cluster Environment/InfrastructureVMWare Server/Cluster Environment/InfrastructureAssist and lend expertise in a variety of ways to help solve WSD FAB Infrastructure problems/issuesDevelop internal documentation for key systems and servicesMonitor Infrastructure performance and resolve any issues promptlyIn depth system log event monitoring expertise requiredRoutinely perform server analysis/assessments to identify areas of improvements in terms of functionality & performance.Respond to customer requests for assistance with computer software and hardware issuesUnderstands and can work with legacy Windows Operating Systems utilized by WSD FAB ToolsParticipates in the on call schedule, which includes after hours and 24x7 supportProvide Technical Support - Offer technical support to end-users via in person, phone, email, or chat. Document technical issues, workarounds, and resolutions in a knowledge base.

Qualifications / Skills

8+ years of experience in the areas of IT Infrastructure Server support and administration.BS degree in Information Systems / Computer Science.Technical Skills - Proficiency in Powershell, Bash, Perl to be able to develop tools/processes to automate system administration tasks to help scale IT Operations.Problem-Solving Skills - Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions- Technical knowledge in Windows & Linux environments current and legacy (Fab environment has many old devices running older OS versions)Identify and address vulnerabilities in Windows/Linux operating systems and applicationsDevelops, implements, administers, and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of Windows/Linux operating systemsStrong Technical knowledge with legacy/current Windows Operating Systems utilized by WSD FAB Tools as well as Redhat/Rocky/OEL/Centos/Ubuntu Linux Distributions. Exposure to all the industry standard Linux operating systems is a plus.Legacy/Current Windows OS Administration including :Microsoft PatchingWindows Authentication - AD vs LocalWINS/DNSWindows Global Groups/Permissions/ACLsAntivirus usage, especially on older Windows Operating SystemsWindows PC HardwareAdvanced OS Level debugging (ping, disk space utilization tools, ipconfig, perfmon, etc)Linux OS Administration including :Common Data Manipulation (sed, awk, cut, vi, etc…)List/Install software packagesNetwork configurationLinux Authentication - NIS vs LDAP vs LocalAdvanced OS Level debuggingLoad issues (uptime, top, ps), disk space issues (df, du, mv/rm), network/reboot issues (ping, ifconfig, uptime)Must be proficient in monitoring concepts and frameworkKnowledge of networking and other OS technologies is a plusCandidate must demonstrate the following capabilities/competencies :Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with end-users and other teams.Knowledge: Advanced professional expertise, applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.Job Complexity / Contribution: Works on problems of advanced scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises excellent judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Builds productive internal/external working relationships. Has mastered most of the advanced job duties.Supervision: Incumbents are still occasionally directed in some aspects of their work. However, all straightforward tasks are accomplished without assistance and complex tasks are accomplished with a little assistance and guidance.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $84,000 - $135,000.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
