Position Summary

We are seeking a Transportation professional like you to join our Aiken County team!

In this role, you will manage the work associated with the efficient transportation of materials and products from origin to destination including:

• Identifying and selecting most appropriate and cost-effective transportation
• Controlling and tracking critical material transportation
• Establishing emergency plans
• Analyzing current transportation operations practices to determine process and cost improvement opportunities

ResponsibilitiesDevelops and maintains daily loading schedules for outbound shipments, ensuring timely delivery and the utilization of the most efficient mode of transportation.Assists in transportation related needs for the plant’s Receiving and Purchasing departments.Exhibits exceptional time management skills by actively monitoring load status and promptly communicating all pertinent information to dispatch teams.Performs audits and communicates with carriers on their performance and compliance to rate/bid program to assess truck loading efficiency and ensure adherence to operational standards.Partner with corporate transportation to help facilitate annual bids and provide objective feedback on carrier performance in monthly transportation meetings.Ensures compliance with all DOT and Interstate Commerce Committee regulations in conjunction with corporate transportation.Ensures record keeping is maintained and managed related to all outbound shipments (ex. Govt. requirements (CTPAT) on aging documents)Analyzes current transportation operations practices to determine process and cost improvement opportunities.Fosters and sustains positive relationships with suppliers, carriers, and colleagues through written and verbal communication.Implements QA freezes, tire requests, and establishes emergency plans.Establishes, directs, and controls all standard operating procedures related to the shipping of finished goods to ensure superior service to our customers at the lowest transportation expense.Manages SOPs (including accuracy and process improvements)Track and manage shipping activity to ensure on-time and on-schedule delivery of shipments to customers and distribution centers.Investigates and resolves over/short/damage reports regarding carrier claims and determines carrier liability and provides documentation to corporate transportation claims manager.Reviews transportation invoices to ensure accuracy, budget adherence, and compliance to financial guidelines

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
