The Office of Undergraduate Advisement and Orientation is seeking a Senior Academic Advisor(s). Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Academic Advisor(s) will serve as an advocate for students, providing support and referrals to appropriate program services, faculty, campus learning resources, and student development services. The Senior Academic Advisor will deliver comprehensive advisement to an assigned group of students through to degree completion. Additionally, the Senior Academic Advisor will conduct workshops, group sessions, and outreach initiatives to engage students, retain them, and promote their success. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Senior Academic Advisor will be responsible for the following duties: · Provide comprehensive caseload management and retention support to a designated group of students, crafting individualized academic plans that cater to their unique needs. · Develop detailed, semester-by-semester academic plans using campus degree maps. · Provide well-rounded support to students by recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs that cater to their diverse needs and aspirations. · Leverage academic advising tools and technologies such as Navigate, DegreeWorks, and CUNYfirst to meticulously review and maintain accurate tracking of student progress and data. · Actively participate in community events to build strong relationships with students, faculty, and other stakeholders, fostering a supportive and inclusive educational environment · Regularly review students' academic progress, offering timely interventions to keep them on track for graduation. · Conduct workshops and group advisement sessions on relevant topics of interest to support student success. **QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required. **Preferred Qualifications** · Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Educational Administration, Educational Psychology or Social Work · Experience providing culturally competent guidance, support, and services to a diverse student body · Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and detailed student records · Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Access and Excel), and aptitude to learn new systems as needed · Strong organizational, collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills · Demonstrated knowledge of equitable and inclusive advisement practices to support students · Strong time-management skills and a keen ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments. · Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. · Essential duties require on-campus presence. **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Provides expert and/or specialized academic counseling a diverse student population. - Offers comprehensive advisement to full-time and part-time students - Works with other academic affairs staff as well as enrollment and student affairs to assist students to declare majors and select appropriate courses - Monitors students' performances and takes appropriate action if necessary; resolves students' problems regarding curricular requirements - Develops academic plans and performs graduation audits - Provides information to students regarding student support services, college policies and program procedures and guidelines - Facilitates workshops; assists with other department activities such as course scheduling - Establishes and maintains student advisement files; prepares activity reports and analyses - May supervise extramural activities, such as internships and community service; may assist with accreditation efforts as needed - May provide career and transfer services and/or specialized program counseling - May supervise junior advising and/or clerical staff - Performs related duties as assigned.
