Senior Account Clerk
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: + Reconciles accounts and prepares reports as they relate to Payroll for customers + Coordinates pay period activities across multiple departments, including ensuring appropriate account coding. + Reviews and processes payroll-related financial documents, ensuring accurate calculation of hours worked, deductions, overtime, and tax changes. + Makes necessary adjustments and updates to payroll records, including changes in rates or deductions. May confirm budget codes, earnings codes, deduction codes. + Maintains, organizes and files payroll-related records in compliance with established policies and procedures. + Prepares and processes payroll deductions, ensuring timely submission of reports and payments. + Prepares and submits periodic reports related to state and federal payroll tax withholdings and compliance matters. + Compiles and processes monthly retirement reports for the New York State Employees' Retirement System. May coordinate work for others in the department as it relates to ERS reports/requirements. + Responds to inquiries from employees, department heads, and external agencies regarding payroll-related matters. + Perform monthly, quarterly or annual reconciliation of payroll to general ledger transactions. Processes this information for BFA and Accounting department. + Acts as liaison between school district staff, as well as external contacts such as government agencies, retirement systems, and banks. + Does more complex payroll transactions or may do payroll for the entire department and prepares related reports, processes bi-weekly payrolls for employees. + Prepares more complex financial or statistical summary reports. Prepares files for payroll-related banking transactions. + May assist in preparation of figures and reports for use in budget preparation as it relates to Payroll PO process with financial software Job Qualifications REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A) Graduation from a New York State registered or regionally accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree or higher in accounting, business, or a closely related field; OR B) Completion of 60 credit hours at a New York State registered or regionally accredited college or university which must have included at least twelve credit hours in accounting or bookkeeping; OR C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two years of clerical experience maintaining financial accounts and records, which must include, as a regularly occurring function of the job, some financial account-keeping duties, such as reconciling bank statements, posting to ledgers, making entries to journals or checking voucher and purchase orders for arithmetical accuracy and completeness; OR D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.
